Interesting... Some common sense... :D :D

Ol' Bernie is now being 'hung out to dry' on 'tax fraud' charges - quite soon after being 'condemned'
for expressing support for Piquet's position, & asking why 'the war' in Eastern Europe is continuing
& not being negotiated to a peaceful conclusion - esp' since (according to Bernie) V. Putin is a
sincere bloke who is up for it, but hasn't even been contacted about it, amazingly enough!

Coincidence, or consequence?
Definitely coincidence, takes a long time to charge someone for such an amount.
Exactly this. For CPS and HMRC to get to the charge point, you need receipts and evidence of wrongdoing.
I think Bernie, being 91, and of considerable wealth, would have connections to both those institutions.
He may well have been tipped off from the inside as to what was coming, and started gushing praises to the greed meister-in-chief, Putin.
I'd suspect this would be to keep his $40m Falcon 7X on a steady state of standby, so that come August he can hop on make a sojourn to Putin's welcoming embrace.

Or, perhaps more likely, the case against ol' Bernie was already primed to go, but 'held on hold'
due to political 'go or no-go' sanction, just awaiting a 'trigger' which could be seen as justification?

& that was duly deemed a 'done deal' by Bernie's openly expressed remarks/attitudes which were
clearly contrary to the 'party line'?

Occam's Razor applies. If one is looking at something and the answer is either a convoluted conspiracy hypothesis or a simple coincidence, then the coincidence is the one to go for.

Not when a ex-mensch under condemnation has his vast accumulation of shekels up for grabs...

Old Occam was no economist, & as a certain Scotchman by the name of Smith with his own 'invisible
hand' dictum duly explained a few centuries later - gelt-grasping is the very mother of conspiracy...

That should also neatly peg back lap times by quite a large amount.

So what they have essentially done is raise the ride height without having to actually say they've raised the ride height. Will this have any consequences in the wake of the car with the tunnels becoming less powerful

The World Motor Sport Council approves F1 2026 Power Unit Regulations and updated 2022-2023 Technical Regulations

1. World Motor Sport Council Approves 2026 Formula 1 Power Unit

The four key pillars of the 2026 framework are:

- Maintaining the spectacle – the 2026 Power Unit will have similar performance to the current designs, utilising high-power, high-revving V6 internal combustion engines and avoiding excessive performance differentiation to allow for improved raceability.
- Environmental sustainability – the 2026 Power Unit will include an increase in the deployment of electrical power to up to 50% and utilise a 100% sustainable fuel.
- Financial Sustainability – Financial Regulations regarding the Power Units will reduce the overall costs for competitors whilst retaining the cutting-edge technological showcase that is at the core of Formula 1.
- Attractive to new Power Unit Manufacturers – the regulations are intended to make it possible and attractive for newcomers to join the sport at a competitive level.

A detailed overview of the key elements of each section of the Power Unit Regulations can be found here

2. World Motor Sport Council approves changes to the 2022 and 2023 F1 Technical Regulations to address the matter of porpoising and introduce greater safety standards for the roll hoop

The FIA has consulted extensively with the teams and has come to a final position as follows:

From the Belgian Grand Prix, the FIA will be measuring the phenomenon and expecting teams to operate below a certain threshold in order for their car to be considered safe. In addition, the following measures are approved for 2022 and 2023:

2022 Formula 1 Technical Regulations

- Central Floor Flexibility – changes to re-define the stiffness requirements of plank and skids around the thickness measurement holes.

2023 Formula 1 Technical Regulations

- The floor edges will be raised by 15mm.
- The Diffuser throat height will be raised, while care has been taken to avoid any impact on the teams’ designs of the mechanical components.
- The diffuser edge stiffness will be increased.
- An additional sensor will be mandated to monitor the phenomenon more effectively.

Indycar manages the warm up and decent tyre life out of their 2x spec options. I think it'll be a storm in a teacup and we'll really appreciate some great battles as tyres start to come in and the hot tyres drivers will be making all of the moves to get that advantage.

bring it on
Exactly, it has been done for years. And its not like the pirelli trash can get much worse, although there have been much less problems this year, but downforce has been Billy lowered.

I'm looking forward to it, leaving it to drivers to warm up the tyres and then manage the tyre successfully whilst extracting as much performance out of the tyres as possible will be a real test of a drivers overall skill. Especially in qualifying and the start of races.

This is the new points format if the Belgian GP has rain trouble again
.
After the debacle of the Belgian Grand Prix in 2021, the FIA changed the regulations for distributing points in shorter races.
Find out what those changes are in view of the predicted rain for the upcoming Belgian GP.

An interesting point of view

"As the bastardization of the sport continues, seemingly unchecked, it is difficult to decide what is worse, Liberty's determination to totally reshape F1 for the streaming generation while monetising every aspect of it, or the fact that the man doing the dirty work was at one time a purist like the rest of us."

Not a very good stance to take saying you don’t expect a female to be competing in F1 within 5 years. He should be promoting getting females into the F1 cars.

Saying that, he’s taking the sport and heritage away from F1 anyhow. It’s all downhill from here with him in charge
