Red Bull RB18

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Wonder what the purpose of the dots are on them. I wonder if there is a degree of 'flex' built into those so it gets the benefit of the high kick in the slower stuff, and drops back on the faster longer straights.

Sticker. Just reference points for optical measurement of flexibility.

Yep, that way all teams can (easily) check on eachother to see the aero surfaces are sufficiently rigid.

It's the engine oil breather. Since the restrictions on oil burning all the oil vapour has to exit at the back of the car.

It couldn't be a Wastegate anyway as they have to plumbed back into the main exhaust

To me that different colored part is very interesting.
It is clearly a different material, and seems quite deliberate, as the whole piece has been screwed there separately. Could it be glass fiber, by the looks of it?
I remember during the first testings this year, Red Bull used something similar material and some people was wondering what it could be. Maybe this is the same? I can not remember such on other cars.

There is another trick in this car aerodynamically. But I will not reveal until they win the championship.
It's quite ubiquitous on the car. :)

edit: Not a trick. More of a philosophy.

I have to point out that Checo has the same car, so I think the trick is the nut holding the steering wheel on one of the cars is different
