The new car is more than 1 second faster

For our information, the numbers from the Ferrari simulator are extremely positive, with highly-qualified sources revealing that the 2023 car is over one second faster than last year’s machine. This is an intriguing estimation from the Maranello camp, considering the 2023 regulations introduce significant variations in terms of overall aerodynamic load.

I don’t see competitors catching up and Mercedes won’t beat Redbull for 2nd place

I'll believe in their titles only at the end of the 2023 season.. Before that moment all those "+30 hp", "1sec+ faster than.. " give hopes but then nothing happens :(

1 second faster than last year’s car despite regulation changes slowing down the cars would be absolutely crazy.

Well the new tyres can make up a large portion of that 1 second, so I am not really surprised.

Isn't this the case year on year? I mean, the typical gain is around 0.8-1 sec for the top teams.

The regs have changed (floor edge/diffuser throat) estimated to reduce performance by about 5 tenths so to gain 1s over last year, you'd need a 1.5s step.

Ringo brings up the important point that tyres could make a difference, but I imagine Ferrari are taking the different tyres into consideration if they're comparing their new car to the old car.

They have a history of bringing a strong, new car at the beginning of the season and then tapering off. 2015, 17, 18, 19 and 22. Lot of times, they sit on some pony, grey tricks that the competition finds out and throws them off mid-season. I won't be surprised if the new car would be the benchmark in the first race and hopefully they would have enough reliability on the car and no pony tricks.

Sainz bought his first car, a Ferrari 812 Competizione. 😍 He drove a Golf since he was 18 years old. Got it from his parents.
