Sergio Perez briefly lost the lead to Fernando Alonso at the start but soon recovered and led the remaining laps to easily win the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen recovered from 15th to 2nd. Fernando Alonso finished third despite a post-race penalty that was reversed later in the evening.

Verstappen didn't get into the lead before lap 42 last year. Are you referring to another race?
If Alonso jumps him, then I doubt if he can even be on podium as he loses performance badly when behind cars and the Mercs and Ferrari will mug him.
He also did say he thought FP2 is hard to use to judge other teams by, with everyone doing different programs and such. So in the end, who knows how Ferrari stack up, but the assumption is that deg won’t be the deciding factor. The midfield looks super-tight and could be very tasty. Too much daylight between the RB and the rest of the leaders though; would love to see 1-2 tenths, like that one beautiful year when Merc and Ferrari were slugging it out in the first half.
I don't think so. I think Perez will be either 1st or 2nd (to Verstappen). The car is quick. His long runs were strong in FP2. Half a second clear of the others. The Aston Martin is a dog on the straights. Leclerc has a grid drop. Who is going to challenge Perez except for Verstappen?
The car concepts between Ferrari, Merc, and RB are so different that things can't be explained solely by budgets. Take the time/cost delta and give it to Merc: if they are barking up the wrong tree, they'd have only barked at the same tree with more money.
