Rb19 is easier to set up than rb18. If they had these setup issues last year I doubt they could recover like this

Leclerc came very close considering their car. S3 in particular
Apparently Marko bet that Verstappen wouldn't even be on the front row (and Marko never loses bets), so he must know something we don't  .
They also took wing off for quali expecting to have to pass people tomorrow, so I think this one came as a big surprise
What did you mean by taking off wing?

RB18 was too heavy. More mass is more difficult to stop moving in the wrong direction so, heavier things are more difficult to balance.

I read somewhere that they ran slightly lower df in quali. The top speeds of 333 for RB does support that slightly given they were only beaten by Williams who has a tow

Marko said they went for the lower downforce solution to be able to pass in the race, yeah, but going by the AmuS article, it sounds like he was talking about the two available options in general there, not necessarily compared to practice.

The article indicates that adding more wing could have potentially fixed the FP3 problems, but they decided against it, and worked on it on the mechanical side instead.

That makes sense thank you! Yeah I think the high downforce wing could've worked here. After the fp2 disaster I was thinking just going big wing, giving up quali and hanging onto the tyres really well like COTA would work. But I think it seems they went down the right path, as long as tyre wear is fine

Unbelievable! 19 race wins. That is going to stand for a very very long time, unless RB20 is another beast.

They were still "slow" on straights without DRS, just not as much as in vegas.

Congratulations everyone. An absolutely incredible season. I hoped for this, as the RB18 was quite heavy, but I didn’t expect it. Next year I think the competition will be much closer.

On point (Almost) all season. Only a mechanical gremlin for max in Q1 in Jeddah and the pit wall not very awake in Baku when De Vries was in the wall, but the rest of the season really can’t be faulted.

The RB20 will still be a missile. The RB19 wasnt upgraded after Singapore really. Thats 8 races. 1/3 of a season.

Max himself isn’t expecting next year to be like this. I have never caught him law balling something big.
