He will be in a very good position for very good money for 2025. No very good driver is available, also not the young guns. Only SAI is without a contract, but maybe not the guy the team wants (neither star factor nor the young gun factor).
You might be onto something. Lobato has just said that he's sure Alonso will be more expensive for Lawrence Stroll from now on.

No doubt Alonso's agent and/or Briatore will talk to Mercedes, because after all Fernando is a driver and wants the best possible car for the future so that means he has to check all options available even if he most likely stays
Let's see where aston will be this year compared to Mercedes, because Hamilton seems leaving Mercedes because the car this year will not be competitive as should.
Personally I really believe that Aston understood what went wrong middle of the season (if went wrong at all and not just FIA ,the new TD and new tyres screw them up) and this was proved by podiums end of the season.

On F1 Nation podcast Lawrence Barretto reports that Aston Martin came knocking for James Allison.

Apparently this is what forced mercedes' hand to sign him into a new long term deal at Merc.

skip to 11mins 36s to hear it from horse's mouth

Very ambitious

Is Lance modelling his look on Lou Ferrigno‘s Hulk or Odd Bod from Carry on Screaming?
This disheveled driver look seems to be getting worse every year and, at this point, the drivers are starting to look like extras from Zoolander.
Think it's done purposely to make it look like they're off.

One thing I'm curious though is where Allison would have went inside the team, TD is already taken.

Could be or it might be that Hamilton just said "Mercedes, been there done that. I had a dream to drive the red car once in my career and it's either now or never."

Could be a good thing if it means Stroll to hypercar.. could be bad if it means alo wants out.

According to Spanish media in recent days, ALO would only consider leaving AM if they underperform or if he receives an offer from Red Bull. Lance's departure also seems unlikely, we'll see anyways.

Rule number 1, don’t trust spanish media when it’s about Alonso moving teams…

If you mean Marca and other clickbait news then yes. But I remember back in Hungary 2022, a few days before the announcement Alonso's closest friend in the media was hinting at something big about to happen.

AMR trucks spotted in Jerez, seems to be a filming day. AMR24 should be in action...
