What a depressing read for Ferrari

I feel like Ferrari was hiding more today than McLaren, that's for sure. But the balance in S1 is still worrying either way.
Well, my panic was short-lived
This was only present on their long runs. You would expect them to be down on power or high on fuel because Leclerc was almost 1 second off Piastri's pace. On the performance runs, balance on the softs wasn't good at all though. I thought he made a mistake in the first chicane, but apparently the car is horrible through there.ScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑18 Apr 2025, 21:10Well, my panic was short-lived![]()

I mean, they were errors, but it's because the car has 0 rear grip to start the lap. The completed lap was done on 6 lap old softsEmag wrote: ↑18 Apr 2025, 21:20This was only present on their long runs. Then of course, Lewis seems to be struggling here so far, which is also not good. If Leclerc can piece together a great lap, they can be in for a good result tomorrow in quali, but if the balance isn't sorted out for the race, then it won't matter much even if Leclerc puts it on pole.
He tried a bunch of different things on his soft laps and was pretty pleased after his lap given the tyre life. I think he has something in mind for tomorrow.Emag wrote: ↑18 Apr 2025, 22:26Seems like Leclerc is really positive, just like before the weekend even started so maybe those bad couple of runs with the softs were not unexpected. I would never bet against Leclerc on a Saturday especially, but I do hope they have the race pace sorted if he puts it on pole.
Yeah, I mean, watching the session, that was my impression too: the car wasn’t easy but the pace was in there if they can get it right, so reasons to be optimistic. The soft run wasn’t at all representative and maybe the mclarens still have an edge but actually so far this year we’ve often seen them more ahead in practice than quali, so not surprised if this closes up and we get a new 2025 pole sitter this weekend (equally won’t be surprised if it’s a McLaren though!)SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑18 Apr 2025, 22:33He tried a bunch of different things on his soft laps and was pretty pleased after his lap given the tyre life. I am also worried about the race pace, but I'm sure this is something they've considered. If anything Leclerc is more likely to sacrifice qualifying for the race, just knowing how he is as a driver and person. It's pretty clear in my head where I want to go for tomorrow. So we're going in that direction probably, and I hope it will pay off in qualifying.
We will work together tonight to see [which setups to use] because through both sessions we were trying different things across both cars to then converge. So, wing settings and all sorts.
I don't know [what the car is capable of]. Just for me, I'm trying to see if I can get in the top 10 at the moment. Normally Saturdays it goes backwards. There is not a lot backwards for me to go from where I am. So, hopefully overnight we can make some improvements to the car. There were a few bits through the session that felt good. Just once we get to the soft tyres, it isn't there. So, we will make some changes overnight and hope that tomorrow we can come back stronger.
