You should go crawl the pubs in Brackley. You never know who you might run into…Some things which are believed within the Mercedes camp will in fact surprise you, and I’ll leave it at that…
Like Max staying at Redbull which is very likely, would be surprising for all the people who believes he's leaving Redbull this year and I'll leave it at that...
My comment wasn't about who is driving for Mercedes next year.
:-o
But...?

Mercs are running a new engine cover with cooling outlets and bulge around the suspension wishbone
Really? Wasn't in the FIA document...

I pointed this out in China. Setup can be changed.

Russell:
It was a slightly messy day from our side. We didn’t manage to get too many clean laps in, owing to both traffic and a few efforts where we didn’t quite the tyres in the right window. We tried some different things across both cars, which was definitely valuable learning for both Kimi and myself. I think we’ve found the direction we will move in now.

We were probably stronger in FP1 than FP2 ultimately. We didn’t quite take the step forward with the car that we were hoping too, but I don’t think there’s anything that we can’t improve overnight to come back stronger for Qualifying tomorrow. It was a shame not to get the long run data in due to the red flag in FP2, but everyone else is in the same boat. It’s not controversial to say that McLaren looked like they were clear in front but I’m hopeful we can be in the fight for best of the rest once again as we head into the weekend.
Shovlin:
..We made a few changes into FP2, partly to account for the cooling track and also in an attempt to further refine the balance. In the later session, the car was a bit tricker for both drivers so we'll pick through those changes on the simulator overnight and decide what to keep and what to discard. We didn't get a read on the long run due to a combination of the red flag and a few delays in our own programme. However, McLaren still look quick and we'll be working on the assumption overnight that they are the ones to beat.

The team over at the Race noted that this was really the first weekend where the car didn’t look sorted visually trackside.

That was based on observations in FP2. George doesn’t seem too bothered. Apart from the lack of clean running.

The car itself looked pretty planted in sector 1 from the onboards, so any high speed bouncing I didn't notice but obviously the driver will feel it in the car.

The car itself was very much in the running in sector 2 and 3. All of their losses are in the high speed corners of sector 1, where they're losing up to half a second to the McLaren. Same story as last year.

Last year they were porpoising and they had to lift in certain high speed corners, which was worse.

The Athletic
- Toto Wolff ‘didn’t have any conversations’ with Max Verstappen over Mercedes F1 move for 2026
..But speaking on Friday in Jeddah ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Wolff said no discussions had taken place with Verstappen over a potential move for next season, and stressed his faith in the existing line-up of George Russell and Kimi Antonelli for the future.

“We didn’t have any conversations,” Wolff told The Athletic in an interview. “At the moment, where it is with George and Kimi, there’s no doubt to question that set up for the future, as it goes.”

Wow those Mclarens when the track is scorching hot. Simply untouchable. Mercedes has really made a step in terms of hot weather performance vs. last year. The W16 is really a superior package. I just hope the Flexi TD doesn’t send them to the midfield. The car desperately needs some updates for the slow speed/hair pins, it is so sluggish lookin in that type of cornering. Imola can’t come soon enough.

Awesome set up work by the team and a great lap from George.

Be interesting to see if he can benefit from any Piastri v Verstappen shenanigans tomorrow.
