Honestly I just think it’s McLarens current development philosophy. They are very risk averse about bringing new stuff to the car when it’s already clearly fast enough (to the team) to compete for the win. If one of the other teams take a higher risk approach and leap ahead of Mclaren then I’d imagine we would see a ‘significant’ upgrade on the Mclaren not that many races later

What a fantastic driver Kimi Antonelli is evolving. 18 years old with the second to third best car and he is delivering.

After all let's not forget that Max is our opponent and we have two Mclarens in front of him. Tomorrow Piastri might be able to get Antonelli on the start or later playing with tyre wear.

Only caught a bit. But why wasn't Russell out? Merc lost a 1 and 2.

They've different styles. It's better to say it suits Lando less.
Piastri is saying "It doesn't suit me anymore than him. I have just adapted better."
I didn't see Piastri say what you quoted. Doesn't sound very Oscar either.

We did nothing wrong, but it's good to praise a special talent, no matter who they drive for.

I really enjoyed that. It's so tight at the front. Piastri edging Norris and a tremendous lap from Kimi, really pleased for the kid.

But i hope we stuff him tomorrow

Well, it was 44 degrees track temp and McLaren was beaten by a Mercedes and could potentially gotten beaten by Max too if they had set their best lap on fresh tires.

Seems like that Bahrain FP3 gap was an overreaction after all ...

I gather that Merc had straight line speed. Will be difficult if not at the start.

Piastri made a mistake in the final corner, otherwise the pole is his. Incredibly exciting tomorrow, to see how young Kimi fares against the McLarens and Max. Tyre wear should play into McLaren’s hands, but you never know these days…

Both Red Bull and Mercedes have had upgrades since Bahrain.
