They gained 10ish due to VSC though. But yeah, that McL is insane.
Yeah, this is an unsurmountable gap even over an entire year. Whatever they are doing is something and I'll leave it there.
Unless proven otherwise, at the moment the only thing they are doing is a better job at developing a fast car for this regulation set than others.
Not sure what you interpreted here Emag. All I said was they are doing something.

The car was not even that bad, I think tyre deg was pretty good, despite killing the tyres with the McLarens Max was able to keep Antonelli at distance at the end of the first stint.

Problem is that McLaren is just in another league, they are uncatchable.

Antonelli was slower than Albon. I agree that tire deg wasn't crazy, but it was too slow.

Indeed I am quite calm after this race. We will fight for p3 in the WDC with Russel. Reality is there. Max has shown his amazing fighting spirit, he never gives up. I really admire him, what a driver. But we cant fight with this car. Lets see what Imola brings in cooler conditions. Its f1, nothing last forever.

You did not take account that Tsunoda was slower than the Ferrari , the Williams and the Mercedes. The "car" can not just be used with factoring Max performance in everytime.

Is there more coming in Imola in terms of upgrades, or was this floor in Miami just brought forward?

I never take into account the 2nd driver, for me the package is Max+car.

I don't think the setup was ideal, maybe on a normal weekend it could have been better but still not anywhere in the same ballpark as MCL. That tyre wear is otherworldly if Redbull can't replicate that with their supposed MCL clone( doesn't look like they understand how to based on their recent complaints) it will be curtains for this season, even with the looming front wing TD. It's not just about downforce anymore, the pace advantage lies massively in MCLs tyre wear.

Miami is not the best track for this car, so nothing to worry about in isolation. The problem is there is not enough tracks like Suzuka and Jeddah to stay in the championship with the current car.

Not exactly the same spec car but Tsunoda still doesn't have confidence in the car. He barely pushed the car until the last few laps to make up for the penalty. He was way too tentative in most corners where Max was just at the limit every time. But still Max has to drive at 110% to keep up, which is not sustainable all race. Seems the car is run too stiff now, both front and rear.

On tracks like Jeddah and Suzuka the win is anything but guaranteed, the MCL should have won both easily. The Imola update has to improve tyre wear and the working window for these tyres. RB, Merc all produce almost similar/slightly less amount of downforce but come race day they can't even sniff MCL's lap times even on fresh tyres.

McLaren is doing something with the tyres that no one else can replicate; they're at least a second per lap ahead of everyone, even Red Bull. Unless Red Bull can somehow copy their solution, or the Barcelona Technical Directive sets McLaren back, I unfortunately don't see Red Bull winning.
