Oscar Piastri though is evolving into a beast. Not only he dispatched Antonelli on the first chance without losing time but he was on Max's back immediately and attacked him relentlessly. In the end he beat Max in his own game taking his scalp a second time in a row.
Piastri is lucky mclaren has 0,5-1s on RB21, otherwise his qualifying slipups would be punished much harder.

He was the faster driver today, I think Imola, a track that he loves, its best place for him to bounce back.

Let's just hope there's a coulpe of cars between him and Verstappen this time so Max can't try to yeet him into the shadow realm again.

guys, regarding the VSC comments like "timing does not work well" and "what happened, why did Lando lose 3s?",
you are kidding right? you understand when 2 cars are 500m away from each other and they go slower under VSC, it takes longer time to travel those 500m than in full race pace hence the timing appears as if the gap was larger... so those cars are still 500m away from each other, but the timing gap goes up as they slow down and returns back once they get back up to race speed.

What a dominant race. Well done by both drivers, great fights with Max, can't really blame Lando for the turn 2 attempt I think. I hope this form goes with us into EU races as well :D

I dont think Max did anything wrong out there.

It was good, but Lando was unlucky. I do think Oscar was struggling on tyres, they could push the hards, he didn't need to manage them and not sure he needed the time below 4 seconds.

Luck has nothing to do with it and definately cannot buy you skill. Oscar drove brilliantly making no mistakes today and in fact baited Max to make a mistake and overshoot that corner.

Well he had his typical tyre dropoff at the end. Russell was posting better speeds on same aged mediums towards the end. But it is hard to tell if he was just bringing it home. The second stint averaged .5s lap on Russell, but started out a second faster and quickly dropped down to .5 per lap quicker for a while when I observed the delta.

Oscar seems like he might be a sitting duck in the race if Lando can get out of Q or Lap 1 in a good position.

I have a feeling that if Lando can start catching Oscar then this will get messy, quickly. It would not surprise me to see Lando adapt Max' overtaking and defending style when chasing a championship, but we will see.

A curious stint on hards from Oscar. Also, since track temps were mentioned, I built them into my charts and generally they haven't dropped substantially as the race goes on, but today they did.

I cannot understand a reason why Oscar would let the gap get below 4 seconds. He had no reason to cruise or manage. Unless he was struggling with the longer stint compared to Lando.

After the VSC it was 7.5seconds, he shoukd have managed to keep it steady.
