Also adding this bit since we were discussing it here... I told you they're adrenaline junkies, as long as they get to drive the car, they don't care about their own healthAre we on par with Mercedes and Red Bull over one lap? [Right now] yes, but then, in qualifying, they always seem to find something that we don’t. Unfortunately, I think we’re in that same situation again, but I don’t want to be pessimistic. I hope tomorrow we’ll make a step forward with the car and that the situation turns around: if they’re ahead of us on Saturday, it will be too hard to overtake them in the race. It’s in qualifying that we need to make progress, because we can’t expect miracles or something special on Sunday.
It’s bad to say it, but honestly I feel that the front row will be very difficult. The second row would already be a great result for us, because right now we’re more realistically looking at the third row if everything goes well. The goal is to do the best we can, and I hope we manage to pull off a miracle and even get on the front row. But if the second row is what we can achieve, then we’ll take it.
Hamilton:I’ve always said that the best medicine for me is to stay in the car. After that, I don’t feel in the pain, so while in the car I have no problems. When I get out of the car, I can feel that I’m not at 100%, but honestly, I don’t think it has an impact on how I feel in the car or its performance.
He was also asked if he thinks the brake issues are fixable overnight and gave a resounding No.The first session was positive, the balance was good and there didn’t seem to be much to change for the next session. But then the second free practice session turned out to be more challenging because I struggled to find consistency in performance. We’ll analyze the data collected this evening; we completed the program, including the long runs, so we have a good amount of information to work with.
https://it.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-va ... /10723435/Were we expecting this? Honestly no, we need to be honest with ourselves. We were expecting better. Last year, we finished the season with McLaren, who was a bit faster than us, by a few tenths, but we were in a much better situation than everyone else. Then, we were able to fight in certain situations with McLaren, so we were expecting a better start. We haven't done the best job so far, so we need to be honest with ourselves. This is also the best way to improve: if you accept that you're not in the situation you want to be in, you need to keep everyone motivated, and I think that's how it is, honestly. We have a long way to go to close the gap with McLaren. I wouldn't say it's the case every weekend. For example, if you look at Jeddah, a few races ago, we were probably faster on track on Sunday. That wasn't the case at all in Miami, and that means we need to make the most of the car we have, and that's what we need to start doing.
Hmm if he can't sort it out which wouldn't surprise me given his age, there's no way this will be a good stint with Ferrari. Probably like 2024 where he's just there but pulls out a win or two occasionally. Braking is where Lewis finds all the lap time.cplchanb wrote: ↑16 May 2025, 17:55back when he was at merc he specifically called for the then brembos to be replaced by C.I.
theres something about the brembos that he doesnt like. doubt ferrari will let go of their italian supplier....
He's working mostly on 2026, but he's helping us with this year's car too, particularly with the tires. It's more of a job of finalizing what's been started. Still, everything we learn from this year's car will help us with understanding for next year.
Serra better call spongebob at this level. the sf25 is just a poorly patched 24. May God have MercyScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑16 May 2025, 22:03Vasseur on Serra's role:

Pads and rotors probably yes, that seems to be done a bit in teams e.g. Rosberg and Hamilton both ran differently at times. Don't CI only make rotors though?
It happens when you keep developing cars without a real technical director
I don't even know what to blame or who to blame. There's something problematic fundamentally off. Barely one good car in more than 15 years is just not good enough.
It's quite clear that this team has good ideas and great talents. They lack a vision and a clear development path. This is why we needed Adrian as he was the absolutely perfec fit.f1isgood wrote: ↑17 May 2025, 00:38I don't even know what to blame or who to blame. There's something problematic fundamentally off. This is a major point that gets overlooked. Fred put himself in that role, while being team principal. Basically a fatal move akin to Binnotto; trying to be team principal and engine guru at the same time. In the case of Fred trying to be the French Newey. Back fired big time, but nobody is talking about it!
While this is understandable, and whatever he has appears to not be big deal for him, which is great news, I still find it surprising that there isn't more awareness about the risks involved on pushing through a viral illness, especially since there is enough data out there now..ScuderiaLeo wrote: ↑16 May 2025, 20:32Leclerc (to Italian media):I’ve always said that the best medicine for me is to stay in the car.
