Some interesting facts regarding the C6 soft tyre:
- LEC did an 11-lap stint and set his fastest lap, 1.15.451, on the 9th lap, meaning there is a very low thermal deg.
- At the beginning of the FP3, both Ferrari drivers did a 9-stint lap on the C5 medium tyre, running between a low and medium 1.17 sec. lap.
- According to Marc Gene, the C6 tyre hits the working window almost 5 degrees Celsius above the temperature on the tyre blanket (70 °C), meaning that the working window in between 75 and 90-95 degrees Celsius
- and all drivers (except Macca ones) need guidance from the engineers on how to manage the tyre temperature throughout the lap in qualy
- At Ferrari, they have both temperatures (on the surface and the bulk/core of the tyre) on their wheel dash
- The C5 medium tyre could be used both in qualy due to having a higher working window than the C6 tyres, which didn't need much temp management throughout the entire lap
- Due to low tyre deg and wear, meaning that a 1-stop race is the obvious strategy for the race and there are 2 feasible race options, either starting on the C6 soft tyre and then change to the C4 one, or to start on the C4 tyre and go long on the first stint and then switch to the C6 soft tyre for the rest of the race ...
