Red Bull RB21

Strake doesn't continue. Seems like a hard stop due to a regulations box.

Some teams use a strake as the mirror mount on top of the sidepod. Maybe this fits in the same legality box.

Someone will know, but which legality box allows for that strake to be under the sidepod?
It's the same that allows turning vanes to be on top. They cannot be extended rearward however as that would be outside the side pod inlet box.
Mercedes exploited this with previous cars but on top.

I have not read the GE regs, but normally there is a minimum radius rule for sidepod and engine cover area, that pretty much makes it impossible to have thin geometry on the sidepods like creases and fins.
If not for this rule the water slides would have sharper edges for stronger vortex formation.
For Sure!!

Does anyone have any pictures of Yukis crash?
What is the black ‘pipe/ duct’ which is sticking out of the nose of the car??

That must be the channel to cool the driver.
It takes air from the tip of the nose.

Yea that’s what I thought. When I first saw it I was concerned that it might have been part of the fence that had penetrated the car!

Has anybody else noted that the RB21 works better when Pirelli reduces the tyre pressure? Friday it was horrible and then on Saturday and Sunday with the reduced tyre pressures it is the fastest car. Maybe time for Red Bull to stop looking at aero solutions and start working on a mechanical package for RB21 that can work better with higher tyre pressures.

RedBull is arguably very stiff so lower pressure might help with that a bit? But probably it is way more complex than that and also Max suggested an unusual setup change from Friday to Saturday so there must be more behind.

I believe there's some store in this particular area, although it would need very particular performance analysis and correlation from us as observers to bring a more comprehensive view.

I've noted previously (in MB thread, relevant contrast) that the MB appears to make use of the opposite scenario .... in that there's "gentle" correlation with lift in rear pressure baseline that brings them forward.

The LA to Qatar races last year saw these two effectively switch when pressure shifted downward. Not definitive, as I've stated above, but interesting enough to give some assurance to speculation.

The tyre carcass in being shifted with base pressure will ultimately change it's "spring" specification, frequency of response in compression of structural support, interaction with damper rates, suspension linearity (or inverse) etc to squeeze chassis dynamic response as a whole.
