I like this idea. The sort of thing red bull should use Tsunoda forUnc1eM0nty wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 18:00I was thinking pit really early 1st lap even, then close back up to the pack ?
Leap them all at their 1st stop then use up the tires and hopfully have a gap to drop back into
Even with that, 1st lap pit stop has good potential risk/reward for some drivers at the back. I wonder how many would try that. If there is a SC during the first few laps it should be a no-brainer for half the field.
There's a risk of being held up in the pits if everyone pits on the first lap.SirBastianVettel wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 16:07I'm really curious what teams have planned for strategy for the mandatory two pit stops. Hope for a safety car and pit twice? Or push like a mfer instead of holding the pack up like they often do?
Will we see teams at the back of the grid pit twice in the first two laps? I think we're gonna see some unexpected things, looking forward to it![]()
or they could dive into the pits right after the formation lap and then change at lights out. that would probably be the fastest solution.AnthonyG wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 20:16There's a risk of being held up in the pits if everyone pits on the first lap.SirBastianVettel wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 16:07I'm really curious what teams have planned for strategy for the mandatory two pit stops. I think everyone will push and as soon as a car feels held up by the guy in front, they'll use their first pitstop and from there on the team will make a "normal" strategy.
I think there is a rule, that you need to run the tire for one lap.cplchanb wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 20:35or they could dive into the pits right after the formation lap and then change at lights out. that would probably be the fastest solution.AnthonyG wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 20:16There's a risk of being held up in the pits if everyone pits on the first lap.SirBastianVettel wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 16:07I'm really curious what teams have planned for strategy for the mandatory two pit stops. Those gambling and pitting behind will open up nice pit windows for the front teams so there are compounding effects. It'll be interesting and I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the head strategists office atmAR3-GP wrote: ↑20 May 2025, 20:33I don't think Red Bull or Mclaren will win this race. They have to be more conservative in their strategies. The rest are more likely to gamble because they have nothing to lose. So there will be 2 races. One between PIA, NOR, VER making sure they cover off one another in the pits to maintain track position/pts advantage, and another race between that more conservative group and everyone else who can afford to gamble.
I think it's a little unprecedented to mandate 2 stops and make the race even more of a lottery, but we're past the point of no return.
