Not really. I find Tilkedromes with endless DRS zones much worse. Monaco atleast demands full concentration from a driver.

I do agree, Saturday is great. F1 needs a variety of venues and Monaco brings something extreme. However I’d rather see a situation where the race involves more flat out driving, a high speed procession is much better than a slow one.

I don’t know what can be done about the race. Max seems to think he could keep the field behind him in an F2 car…

I would say that shorter, lighter, narrower and nimbler cars would help alot.

It may help a bit, but I can’t see it being enough.

If you watch the FIA F3 and F2 races this weekend there’s very little overtaking there either. I’d say there’s a much bigger spread of ability in those fields also.

Remove the chicane after the tunnel exit, make it a back straight from the tunnel exit to the tabac corrner, give DRS from the exit of the tunnel to aid with overtaking, there Monaco gp fixed

Williams trolling Merc with the perfect strategy was absolutely golden.

That and the Racing Bulks strategy was about all this GP had going for it

After the hairpin, descending to Portier there appears to be access via a roundabout to the left to the Avenue Princess Grace. It looks like a 4 lane (2 each way) highway. Why not extend on to there for a distance to provide a hard braking zone and overtaking spot? You could run back down the other side and re-join the existing circuit at Portier?

Edit… I’m sure this had been suggested already, seems there’s an article by Gary Anderson over at The-Race. Anyway, why not?

Onto the actual feedback :

So much hullaboo about 2-stop race and what did we get ?
except for Alonso crashing out and Hamilton undercutting to move 2 places up, P1-P11 in the Q order, finished exactly as P1-P10 . The usual snooze fest. Only with no red flags this time. Can this race please be removed from the calender ? Swimsuits clad yacht babes and houte couture hats 'snazzed it up' in the 70s and 80s, when overtaking was possible as the cars were small. Now, in this era of giant cars and stiff suspensions, this race is like an old warwound - ugly & no amount of scratching the itch is going to make it better.

"Jewel in the F1 crown" is in reality "turd in the F1 toilet".
Just remove this once and for all. Enough selling past glory in the guise of 'tradition' when the present and future are pathetic.

Agree w you the V6 hybrid engines should be scrapped, pretending like 12 years is some kind of precedent or tradition is typical myopicness from the backward-lookers idealizing a past that no longer exists. And two years of Vegas & Miasma doesn't mean there should be a third. But the traditionalists will demand that they have their way.

I mean, he barely got pole and the win in very clearly the fastest car on the grid. He deserved the win, but I dont know that I'd consider it a terribly impressive performance overall.

So, in retrospect, today showed why that gamble strategy with stops in lap 1 and 2 would have been suicidal (still, think if then Gasly had triggered a full safety car for 5 laps...).

In the end we got a different farce, with some teams slowing down one lap each, added together. As it was, we only got that in clear daylight for P9 and P10, but as was mentioned in F1TV, if the McLarens had ever found themselves 1 and 2, and we were not that far from it in many ways, we could have had the same exact farce for the lead, imagine the fallout from that!
Once beign creative, make the Maccas qualify 1-2, the Ferraris 3-4, and then we could have seen the Maccas drop 40 seconds (stop-stop), swap, drop 40 seconds (stop stop), swap, lock the 1-2. And then the Ferraris would have had little option other than to drop 40 seconds, stop-stop, swap, drop 40 seconds, stop-stop, swap.
And the race result would have been a "fixed" Macca 1-2 with a two lapped Ferraris in a "fixed" 3-4.
OMG! F1 got a tiny bit lucky there.

The pole lap was superb. Yes the car is fast, but there are no easy Q laps in Monaco - 'brush the barriers for the fastest lap' cliche, etc etc. Showed his critics that he can produce a Q3 lap without 'chickening'.

He got pole by a tenth in the fastest car. There was nothing altogether special about it. Of course there's no easy qualifying laps in Monaco, but c'mon now.

And Norris has been on pole and won races before. It's not new to him. :/ I dont know what critics you've been listening to that were seemingly suggesting he'd never again be on pole or win a race or whatever.

And by some margin, I wouldn't miss this race if it was wiped from the calendar.

Unfortunately that's not going to happen, its a marketing exercise, a showcase for the sport, the racing (or total lack of racing) is secondary

There isn't a 'marina' there, the 'celebs' won't be able to 'watch' the cars, because the amount of plastic in their faces and bodies demands a steady supply of 'yacht champagne'.
I am checking out, otherwise I run the risk of typing actual expletives....

Monaco should be time attack ( qualifying with points awarded).
Saturday time attack for maximum of 12.5 points, with Q1, Q2, Q3, but 1.5hrs for the session instead of 1 hour.
and Sunday another round of the same knock out time attach for the remaining 12.5 points, another 1.5 hours.
The man with the most points over the weekend gets the big trophy.
And that's the end of the Monaco weekend.
