I thought it was a fantastic race by Kimi. Oscar never really seemed to even get the close to him at least not something Kimi didn't see coming, handled the pressure well.

I'd say nothing it seems to be about overtaking under SC after the checkered flag, depends how the Stewarts look at it.

The fact that they gave Tsunoda a 10 place grid drop makes the 'nothing' option a lot harder to defend......

Fantastic overtake at the start & then he did extremely well in the race.

However he can also thank Norris incredible mistake cause the McLaren was faster towards the end of the race IMO

Maybe a little but I don't think Oscar ever really put him under that much pressure, Lando obviously took all the pressure off. I am not sure he would have been able to do it, though it was unusual for Oscar not to try and catch Kimi by surprise, something he tends to do very well - albeit maybe more when there is a bigger pace advantage. He was quicker tham Kimi in clean air no doubt. Just I feel like he had Oscar covered for the laps remaining. Maybe a little longer and the tyre deg would kit more.

10-11 being the only 'interesting' corners in an otherwise McLaren snoozefest of a track.

How wrong I was, about this !
This turned out to be the most exciting race of the season with the top5 heading into the final 10 laps within a span of 6-7 seconds. Proper mix-n-match strategies all converging onto a condensed final 10 laps.
I was guilty of expecting Mercedes to burn through their tyres, turns out, it was Max who did that. Mercedes have a 'proper update' for their rear suspension, which didn't work in Imola, but worked in Canada, for roughly similar track layout, but the difference being the grain of the tarmac (Canada ultra smooth).

The Mclarens actually did have the pace to finish P2-P3, but suffered because they never made 'early calls' w.r.t pitstops - were always 'covering' in reaction to someone ahead.

And regarding the 'gamesmanship' from Russel, why is it a surprise ? It's all part of F1, he isn't the first (or last) driver to run to the school principal asking someone else to be penalized. F1 is not just a game of driving, it's a game of brinkmanship as well, because something called 'steward' - a subjective human, who is expected to make objective decisions, exists. In fact, if F1 was a classroom, Max is the brutally honest unpolished bully, Norris the sweet talking assassin, Piastri the emotionless mute sniper, Russel the snake politician. They all have different ways of playing their 'games'.
