LEC said the update worked as expected and they need to learn it more, the car in race pace was 2nd best and in the dry very close to MCL in pace.
Wishful thinking, it wasn't that close.
I can't be sure but from what I saw I think LEC lost about 6-7 seconds with the medium tires for 30 laps or so?

So it's true winning a race against McLaren is impossible, but the gap isn't as bad as it seemed.

lap 13 they both went to the pits. Charles was then 10 seconds behind Oscar. Not counting the out lap, where Charles had to deal with Ocon, so at the start of lap 14, Charles was 16 seconds behind, and at the end of the race it was 20 seconds.
4/30 = 0,13s. its pretty close to me.

I think we may see Charles winning in Baku.

Leclerc said in an interview just now not to expect wins any time soon so that would be pretty shocking

This is probably Ferrari's only chance for a victory this season. Charles is a class above the rest in Baku. If Ferrari ends the season without a victory... oh my my.

Oh brother...At times I wonder if people actually watch the live timing or the races. The Mclarens are in another universe when they need to be. Did you not watch qualifying in the last 2 days? They didn't even do their best laps in qualifying. I'm sure Mclaren had the PU turned down on both cars after they had their gap at the first stops and then let them fight with the same low PU mode. They are quicker, much quicker. Look what Lando Norris is doing on a 2 step harder compound....in 25C track temp. No one else would even have any grip on that hard tire today. #-o

Awesome job by Leclerc today. Schooled Verstappen all race. The accuracy and commitment needed to nail all the exits onto the straights was superb with a lower downforce set up but he was able to keep Max behind who had higher downforce set up
I think it's been obvious for a while now that he might be the only one who can handle VER without much drama, being attack or defense, IF he has a car that can match whatever VER is driving which has been a rare occurrence.
Imagine if they did both drive the same car where they could school the field of drivers.

The team would have 500+ points after 13 rounds.
And the 2 drivers would have 250+ points each

Does anyone have Ferrari's lap times vs McL's for each stint?

0.13s a lap slower

Piastri’s personal best lap on the second to last lap is more telling than just an average

Not really. He was managing tires like everyone before as he didn’t believe he could get to the end, like he said on the radio, his battery was full and certainly peak performance of the car is higher. But that’s not what race pace is.

If you by winning mean finishing first behind the McLarens, then yes. With soaring temps and medium speed corners, the McLarens will be unbeatable.
