A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Wow, that rear corner is insane. Works seamlessly with the slidepod.
New sidepod also bulges out very close to the floor edge.
Yeah they are really experimenting a lot in this area. 4th sidepod iteration, though this is an evolution of the slidepod.
I feel like the wider sidepod and the work on the front corner is driving towards more outwash/upwash. And the rear corner looks to be fed mainly from the slides. I love that they are going with their own concept instead of just following the herd.
New metal tips on floor daggers (like Merc). It also looks like the vertical "bypass slot" that was hugging the chassis is now gone. I suspect the floor entry is completely redesigned, we'll see when we have a better picture.
Old
New downwash shape for the rear wishbone attachment.
So many iterations with sidepods, implying that the main challenge has been front wheel wake (which looks to have been nailed by the likes of Mclaren and Mercedes, from day1). With the more 'shifted outwards' shape around the upper-SIS area, I wonder whether the orientation of the waterslide has changed from 'straight downramp' into a 'curved downramp' since the location of the quasi-legal-sidepod-fence at the rear is unchanged. Would love to see the plan view of the sidepods. Also curious to see the front wing.
Btw, the rear floor corner just in front of the rear tyres - has become some sort of 'Michealangelo corner' across teams. The folds, creases and sliced cuts have evolved to the level of artwork.
