Mclaren MCL40

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The first Macarena sighting. It's Ferrari style. Images are from and annotated by @carpentiers_f1

the 'spa macarena' pic suggests the implementation is Redbull style, where hinge is at the absolute top.
I've seen some pictures from Austria that suggest it is a Red Bull style wing but then I saw the tweet from Nicolas Carpentiers who said it was Ferrari style. Upon further inspection, I think that's an optical illusion. The bulge in the endplate could be aerodynamic as it's a detail we have seen on other cars. It's not in the same place as on the Ferrari.

We'll have to wait for them to just run it. I'm still convinced it is Red Bull's design based on Austria pictures. A Ferrari Macarena wing wouldn't have the central DRS pod, and Mclaren's pictures from Austria FP1 showed the center pod and the long linkage, so I do think it is a Red Bull style design.

This picture below might not actually be a macarena wing at all. Just some other version of their normal wings. The hinge is in the correct place for the non-Macarena setup. It's in the wrong place for a macarena setup (imo).

This is the original pictures that came out of Austria of the Macarena wing and if this is a macarena wing, the center drs actuator shows that it is a Red Bull style design. The Ferrari design can't have a center actuator because it would interfere with the rotation direction.

The actuator on this wing doesn't look like that of any other wing that Mclaren used this year. It has an extra long wishbone.

I think that is a high and a low drag/downforce endplate and has nothing to do with macarena or not.

This was my idea of how this wing from Austria would move:

Is this the 3rd or 4th different actuator design?
