Red Bull RB22

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

In the rear view you can see the pivot in the center. It's "virtual" in a sense, but the center actuator moves around it, and it's coincident with the outboard pivots. Mclaren's design is a bit different, which is why I think they may have retained the hinges from the non-macarena wing.

Dumb Q - has the flap movement (DRS/SLM) always been powered pneumatically or is there some car (not restricted to this year) that's used hydraulics ?

My best attempt at the macarena mechanism. There's a small collision at the end between the links that wouldn't happen in the real thing, of course.

edit: down for revisions.

I'm doubting that this is purely a "structural" member. It's also surprising to see holes for screws punched into the low pressure surfaces (of the diffuser and the flick tail winglet)

Maybe these are test items that need to be easily removable.

I bet it vibrates like crazy at speed without the stay stabilizer.
