As sometimes We said... Alo doesn't need to have the best car to win... Just a competitive enough car that isn't excessively far from the best.

You've got to stop making stuff like that up. Alonso's quick. He did an excellent job getting the car into the right window for qualifying and then executed some outstanding laps.
I noticed he changed his approach through the final corner on the prep lap, keeping the ICE revs unusually high. I'd assume he was harvesting and topping up the battery there before starting the push lap. He also carried noticeably more speed onto the main straight, which likely gave him a stronger run to the timing line. A few other drivers do similar things depending on their deployment strategy and energy management.
We all agree Stroll is a step behind. Tomorrow is where Alonso's real strength should show. His racecraft, tire management, and ability to manipulate the pace over a stint are among the best on the grid. We'll see if he can nail the launch, gain a position or two off the line, and then manage the tire degradation while maximizing the car's race pace.
