 How does a car continuously lose downforce during a session, the problems never end with Red bull, been 3 seasons now of a temperamental car.

A big deal was made when Mekies came in and how he had improved the correlation because of his engineering background, but nothing seems to have really changed.

Also, Mekies is timid on the radios after a poor session, like have some confidence man.

Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1. Kept together a super team for over 15 seasons.

My feeling tells me the wing will be dropped again.
Something seems not right since they introduced the Austria package.
Maybe too much weight reduction for some parts?

I can’t agree more. Underestimated by everyone. Good luck with RBR, this is the beginning of the end

It sounds like some parts are suffering from deformation or something? Like someone said above, maybe they made some of the stuff too weak to try and lose weight.

P5 now for tomorrow, at least the clean side of the grid
Edit: ANT now also with a pen, so P4...

Could it be that RW mechanism tires or some parts like hinges bend a little bit that causes it to slowly close little bit less each time? This would then loose RW downforce.

The result is that Max is suffering while is is driving 100% on margin so small variation on DF will make the difference. Hadjar has little bit more room to limit so he do not suffer immediately if they loose 1% of DF.

Haven't heard any specifics about what the failure was yet, but Max seemed to imply that it was a similar thing to what pitched him off in Austria. The fundamental issue with the RBR/McLarena wing concept is that it is always fighting physics to stay closed and maintain that all important slot-gap, no matter what mechanical trickery it uses. There are ways to mitigate this but no way to truly solve it. *Edit: perhaps a double-pivot hinge could provide the geometry to allow the wing to open in the same direction while also physically resting on supports when closed, but I don't know how practical that is.* OTOH Ferrari will never have this specific problem, with their wing physically coming to rest on stub-stays.

I'm not passing judgment on which concept is "better" or more performant, but trying to fight basic physics like this is just not a good idea IMO. If this is indeed yet another failure of the RBR flip wing mechanism, it's yet more egg on Wache's face and a big warning sign for McLaren.

We still don't know how the car is performing because it was masked by the issues. If they can fix it under parc ferme, then they might be able to fight Piastri for P3 (delusional, I know  ).

Then decided blow it up with this power grabbing.

It was Newey and the other technical staff that made the car good.

No he wasn’t. Newey wasn’t fully operational since he decided to spent time at designing his sailing boat. Newey was way less involved as people believed. See what he is doing now at AMR

It's Horner who convinced Newey to join and was able to keep him from 2006 to 2024.

Max telling Dutch reporters that he is way beyond “desperate” for a long time now 😂😂.
Thanks to his father he got a little bit what he deserved. Horner was holding everything together, at least he was trying to. All key figures are gone so I don’t see any reason expect fighting for wins let alone fighting for the wdc. It’s just an “elite” racingbulls midfield team.
