A big deal was made when Mekies came in and how he had improved the correlation because of his engineering background, but nothing seems to have really changed.
Also, Mekies is timid on the radios after a poor session, like have some confidence man.
Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1. Kept together a super team for over 15 seasons.pantherxxx wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 17:15This team is dogs*hit without Horner. I hope Verstappen leaves them and finds a proper car.
I can’t agree more. Underestimated by everyone. Good luck with RBR, this is the beginning of the endXyz22 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 18:01Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1. Haven't heard any specifics about what the failure was yet, but Max seemed to imply that it was a similar thing to what pitched him off in Austria. The fundamental issue with the RBR/McLarena wing concept is that it is always fighting physics to stay closed and maintain that all important slot-gap, no matter what mechanical trickery it uses. There are ways to mitigate this but no way to truly solve it. *Edit: perhaps a double-pivot hinge could provide the geometry to allow the wing to open in the same direction while also physically resting on supports when closed, but I don't know how practical that is.* OTOH Ferrari will never have this specific problem, with their wing physically coming to rest on stub-stays.
"I myself don't see any use in it right now. During qualifying, the team already said something was wrong and that the aerodynamics were deteriorating. That's exactly what you don't want. The car is no longer balanced"
Then decided blow it up with this power grabbing.Xyz22 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 18:01Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1. Kept together a super team for over 15 seasons.pantherxxx wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 17:15This team is dogs*hit without Horner. I hope Verstappen leaves them and finds a proper car.
It was Newey and the other technical staff that made the car good.pantherxxx wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 17:15This team is dogs*hit without Horner. I hope Verstappen leaves them and finds a proper car.
No he wasn’t. Newey wasn’t fully operational since he decided to spent time at designing his sailing boat. Newey was way less involved as people believed. See what he is doing now at AMRavada wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 21:04Then decided blow it up with this power grabbing.Xyz22 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 18:01Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1. It's Horner who convinced Newey to join and was able to keep him from 2006 to 2024.avada wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 21:04Then decided blow it up with this power grabbing.Xyz22 wrote: ↑25 Jul 2026, 18:01Horner is the greatest TP of modern F1.
