Is it so hard to have an other guy/gal being solely responsible for traffic during qualy???

This way the engineer could focus more on all the other stuff, and the driver would always be informed about such problems.

Both cars will get mugged tomorrow starting on that side too.

The Ferrari start advantage has been erased with both the 4 week break earlier in the season and the ‘dodgy’ starting sequence the FIA brought in. Ferrari should be fighting to reduce this to 5 seconds or remove completely.

I’ve also noticed last year the guys doing the green flag as the grid forms would walk on waving it as soon as the last car was in position. Now they seem to take a an age walk to the middle of the tarmac wait a few seconds and then wave the flag. All a bit bodge to prevent further criticism of these engines.

Ferrari need to wake up big time how many errors over the past god knows how many years with strategy and radio calls. This season they’ve been better but come on Lewis should have been told properly and the gap and to move out of the way in advance. All he had was Piastri is on a fast lap and yellow nothing else. Lewis was looking in his mirrors for ages and he wouldn’t be able to tell how fast and also found it hard to see where Piastri was. Yes he could have gone quicker and been in a better spot for Piastri to go by but the team need to give quick concise info to their drivers and especially given they were first to do their final lap. Ridiculous

I've wondered this too, and could be wrong but there doesn't appear to be a set procedure. Seems to just be personal preference for how that guy handles the green flag waving, as it seems to vary quite a lot from race to race.

What does the guy with the flag have to do with starting procedures? Is not like they start reving when he waves the flag

There's no rhyme or reason behind FIA decisions. You might start to think they prefer Mercedes, but then Ferrari sends Leclerc to collide with Grosjean after a pit stop, and he gets no penalty. It's an RNG. Either that or whoever put the most in their pockets recently.
