He did as them to ask Honda about the rear suspension failure did he?

Little sensitive are you?
Not quite sure what you mean to say about the rear suspension. Did someone place blame on Honda for the rear suspension failure?

The vibrations were of a nature that wasn't experienced before in the A-spec chassis. Still, Honda understood immediately what the issue was and made effective use of their countermeasures. Honda had become aware of the nature of AMRs oscillations that manifest in the chassis and know how the integration needs to be. Newey when he was asked didn't know the nature but was quick to mention Honda. Krack would have used different diction. It's been noted by Yamamoto that Horner and Marko were VERY keen not to disrespect Honda which in turn Honda repaid with unwavering commitment. Respect is probably MORE important than failure. Disrespect will lead to resentment, as we saw with McLaren. Orihara is in his first year and is an easy target. If it were Tanabe and his stoic nature I believe the treatment would be different. People talk of this massive power deficit without really understanding why the deficit even exists. Orihara said the upgrade will be a big step, so why not trust his words? If Tanabe were saying it, some probably wouldn't doubt it.

BTW, prior to the season, Tetsushi Kakuda, the MGUK engineer who worked with HondaJet on the previous MGUK breakthrough stated they are confident in their hybrid portion of the PU and that the preseason struggles leading up to homologation were all on the ICE side. Fortunately Honda rounded up key members of the previous dreamteam after those individuals completed their assignments from their projects. There are two teams working on the PUs due to the kneejerk 52/48 split and fuel flow debacle which is actually costing power unit suppliers more and given the annually changing power split , fuel flow rate, Honda's strengths would be diminished every following year. It's a headache for the PU department and the talk of V8s is a literal facepalm and shaking of heads. But Honda is working to find a way and meet the challenge doing it the Honda way. They are raising the young engineers who are gaining confidence in how to develop the PU with this new sustainable fuel supplier. I won't speak badly about Aramco but the Saudi giant is facing its own challenges. I do know the situation would be different if they were working with ExxonMobil, but we are where we are.

I have full confidence that like the fairytale story of from ashes to 21/22 races won in a dominant fashion, Honda again will prevail. Never underestimate the Power of Dreams and the passion of Honda. AMR and Honda are gaining synergy and it takes two to tango. We're going dancing again and going from line dancing to waltz. Soon we'll be foxtroting, and next year we'll tango.

Thank you very much for your answers, Diffuser & TyreSlip. I didn’t understand the reason to switch back to the 'S' because I thought ALO would stick with 'M' until the end. It seemed like the best option to me.

Now I understand everything better. I don’t think ALO is upset about finishing behind Lance. I’m sure he’ll be very happy to see that both of them finally finished the race.

I had thought that after using the 'S' maybe he was disappointed with the performance of the 'M' and they were going for a final push. Or that it was something agreed with the team to compare/check something between him and Lance.

Now the only thing that worries me is what I said before: that tire degradation could get much worse if Honda finds the +50 kW they need. Or that on more demanding circuits for the engine (Hungaroring doesn’t seem like one to me) something similar could happen even if there isn’t such a big power increase.
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

I'm was just saying Newey took responsibility for the rear suspension failure and referred the journalists to Honda regarding the ICE vibrations because Honda was handling that issue—not because he was trying to throw Honda under the bus.

Zandvoort will be interesting. Considering most teams will be bringing upgrades for the track. Still wonder is the extra weight reduction with the engine upgrade dimensions changing?

I know that.. they have been doing these kind of strategies for a while. Lance will start way back of Alonso, stop early and do probably the faster 2stopper. Meanwhile Alonso will stay out for far too long and eventually be asked to move. Happened countless times.
BTW, they changed the strategy team last year. so it isn't the same "They" as before. Since they changed the team and they still come up with bad strategies in your opinion. The problem must be you who doesn't understand.

The idea is Alonso is trying to get in the points, So his strategy is against the cars in front. He's positioning himself to get ahead of the cars in front. It's easier when you in the top teen position to get clean air by going long. At Hungry a 2 stop and a 3 stop(if you find clean air) are pretty close. It's just easier for Stroll to find clean air when the cars that were ahead of him are as lower that the AMR26B.
Lmao yeah... Alonso was trying to get into points!! Was there even a realistic chance when he was losing time getting lapped and others stopped for fresh tires!! Then came behind Sainz, bearman and had to divebomb to get past them, losing more time.

He was asking on radio many times after lap25! about the race overview. And why did Alonso himself complain about the strategy after the race?? Now he must be the problem according to you!!

Weekend was very good...but you have to call a spade, a spade. Strategy wws bad. When/if they fight for points, what will be the excuse then!! There will be no place to hide.
It obvious now tge cars in front were too fast.

Disagree the startegy was perfect, things just don't always go your way.

Alonso once said "When you're faster, all the strategies work, when you're not...."

Why does it have to start with failures all the time??? Look at Audi and RBPT. New engine manufacturers, doing exceptionally well from the get go.
RBPT hired ex Honda F1 and Mercedes F1 engineers when Honda said they were leaving...
RBPT and Audi had been working on PU development much longer than the current Honda PU team.
All PU teams have had PU issues, dnf's including DNS's. Honda will catch up, but they don't need the most powerful PU if chassis/aero/tyre/fuel window is optimum. There's a lot of players in a team and making sure it's a team
People should stop repeating this nonsense. No-one from engine design came from Sakura to the UK.
Yep, those who left the Honda F1 program all went back into other Honda R&D projects in Japan.

Unless you have a rocketship... not in the midfield.

If we aspire to become a top team one day, then we have to start acting like one. Iron out these mistakes, improve pit stops and many things outside the car. You know somewhat this kind of mistake cost Alonso the Monaco23 win.😑

This seemed like a positive weekend overall, even with the somewhat weird Alonso strategy today to leave him out so long on the softs. The car is now clearly faster in race trim than the Cadillacs, Williams and Hass already after this B spec’s first outing. If Honda can give them around 40-50hp more than they currently have, which is rumored to be 515Hp, that would get them close to the Ferrari engine level prior to ADOU and slightly above the Audi motor. Along with better harvesting and deployment they could have been fighting the Audis for sure here. Fingers crossed the chassis gets even better with more updates, removing weight and dialing in the set up. If Aston are actually good with tire degradation, that could help them squeak into points with better strategy as well.

This feels like Aston are actually starting the season this weekend, and there is potential in this platform for points by the end of the year on merit.

Perfect strategy in Monaco 23, sometimes things don't go your your way. When a strategy decision comes down a coin toss on whether it's gonna rain or not ant the forcast says 50% chance of rain, it isn't a mistake to get it wrong. Just the way it goes sometimes. Besides the strategy folk involved in that decision are no longer there.

BTW Alonso's Pitstops were perfect today. I'm sure Hamilton was jealous.

Not every one takes the same diction the same way. Again, I said I think he was baited into it by the question.
a phrase that comes off as "you'd have to ask Honda about that" isn't the best way to say "we're working on solving the issues as a team" like Horner always said. He sounded like a broken record, but he kept to it.

One thing that does bother me about the Honda crew is their teamwear. I'm not a fan of how their teamwear creates a distinction of us vs them with the green team and the white team. It may sound silly, but a country like Japan holds the uniform as an important signifier. They should do like they did with RedBull and create a bespoke AMR Honda uniform like they did with Toro Rosso and RedBull. I'm not sure if Honda isn't allowed to use the Aston Martin Aramco logos on their personnel and who's decision it is to not or allow it, but it goes a long way in the mindset of the working team members. I think after some success, we'll see this happen.

I appreciate Alonso's comments, it is in line with what the team members are working toward:

https://formula1-data.com/article/honda ... g-day-2026
During free practice on the first day of the Hungarian GP, symptoms similar to the vibrations that had troubled Aston Martin Honda early in the season were observed in two AMR26s.

However, according to Honda, this was a "different phenomenon" from the vibrations that occurred at the start of the season. Honda adjusted relevant parameters for the second day and improved the situation.

Alonso's car was equipped with a separate current specification PU starting Saturday. As a result, the vibration was "completely eliminated." Alonso himself pointed out that the vibration may have been caused by the unit he used on the first day reaching the end of its lifespan.

According to the British motorsports media outlet The Race, Alonso jokingly responded to expectations for Honda that the clear improvements to the car might put a bit of pressure on Honda.

On the other hand, he rejected the view of treating the car body and the PU separately, emphasizing that Aston Martin and Honda work together as a "one team" to complement each other's weaknesses.

"We are one team. We work together on this challenge. We know our weaknesses and are trying to help each other."

"Early in the season, Honda tried to compensate for the chassis's weaknesses. Now, with the chassis, we're trying to help Honda as much as possible."

"There's still a long way to go. We understand that too, and we know it."

"But I hope this will be the first step. Both Aston and Honda factories are deepening their confidence and trust in their work."

"Considering the coming months, this will probably be the most important thing of all."

Is that the same old part that didn't break during the previous high-vibrations, the kind that numbed drivers' hands? I think you should think a little before saying that.
