When I click on the link I get Anderson saying absolutely nothing of any interest whatsoever. have they substituted that for the one showing the progress on the car?

There are 3 videos, 2 of Anderson and Windsor and 1 showing the chassis being constructed.

Weren't they most proud of their new or high tech windtunnel in North Carolina?

And wasn't it full scale as well? Or something along those lines.

Its a full size rolling road wind tunnel that Anderson was a consultant for. They don't own it by any means, but I believe that it is near their factory.

What is pretty obvious from the video and scarbs' highlights, is that USF1 is taking the low-budget route seriously.

That H-section suspension component with a ball-joint made me curious, can't recall seen one like that in a long time?

But when I'm a great fan of machined Aluminium, I think that mounting structure looks terrific!

@ scarbs, thanks for the valuable insight.

Important correction: not high tech but state-of-the-art! There's no sign it's available for USF1, but I guess there's nothing wrong with being proud of your neighbours.

Thanks madtown77 :)
From the website one can clearly see the approach that USF1 is taking for the design of its car. In the partner sections they have "Development Partners", each one expert in one field of the car with the needed resources. For example it seems that Corvid Technologies provides them with the computational resources to run CFD, Raceworks has a seven post rig, and JRi Shocks helps them with suspension components... maybe that's why they don't have this class of equipment in their premises, allowing to operate at lower costs.
Corvid Technologies wrote:Our primary computational resource is an indigenous 1250-processor x86 32 and 64 bit multi-core Linux cluster. The system provides 40 Terabytes of data storage, 1250 Gigabytes of RAM, an Infiniband high-speed interconnect, and over 10-million cpu-hours annually. Current capability permits routine in-house calculations on problems with 80 million or more elements.
A question to our CFD experts, is this enough computing power for F1?

With chad on board you'd think they could produce a much less amateur website... I thought it was going to be mind blowingly state of the art.

Shows much for the team. :wtf:

Well, they don't have to have world championship winning equipment just yet. They're just starting out. All they need is to make it to every race, and have cars run around the tracks to gain experience.

I think scarbs was polite in his comments on the video, but it had "American chopper" written all over it if you ask me.
Come on, mating the top and bottom of the tub on top of some dust-bin?

That website? Well, I've seen teenager's sites far more elaborate than that, while for those "partners", please note that McLaren was listed too. We know from their first attempt that Windsor's namedropping and references are not always consistent with the truth either.

One can't help wondering what incentives the FIA had to pick USF1 before the Richards/Prodrive/Aston Martin effort?

I wonder why they keep saying that Anderson was Technical director wor the design and build of the Windshear tunnel,
when a spokesperson for the owners already in March xplained that he was merely a consultant?

Windsor's CV has been revised however, when it now says that he was GM for Ferrari GTO UK, not for Ferrari per se.
Perhaps that is a good idea as a member of FOTA?

This article from Wired in 2007 has Ken speaking for the Windshear project and lists him as "technical consultant" - clearly he wasn't a lackey or Wired would have been interviewing someone else!

Some of you Euro types really pi$$ me of with all the negative BS directed at USF1 and pretty much anyone in F1 who isn't a European!

Looking at the Windshear website, there is no mentioning of Anderson whatsoever, not in the News archive either.

http://www.windshearinc.com/

You can also find the original article from Road & Track as a .pdf there, written by none less than Jim Hall.
Still no reference to Anderson though, guess Wired were being a little creative with their piece?

You are just pissed-off because you consider Windsor an Australian, when he was raised in Disney...sorry, Sydney.
