If I remember correctly the times of faultless rollouts and testing sessions in F1 started with Sauber coming into F1.
Before them coming into F1 it was normal practise that the first days on the track were littered by mechanical glitches and long pauses with a lot of bricolage...especially for the minnows in F1...
I remember ATS driver Manfred Winkelhock solving one electrical failure on their first proper test with the BMW turbo ,as he was the only professional car electrician
in the team!!!! that test was in Brazil btw...

with the budgets going down it is completely normal that we will face more of these glitches make it to the track,no question.

From now on experience and expertise is king more than ever. You need to have a good understanding of the implications plus detail knowledge in one person, whereas beforehand this could be split into several persons contributing to the master.

And that's where the opening hour came to a temporary halt as Timo Glock brought out the day's first stoppage.

The Virgin Racing driver, who completed 15 laps in the first 39 minutes - four more than he managed the entire day on Wednesday, brought out the red flags when he went off track at the Michelin corner.
It is not yet known how bad the damage is to his VR01.

Glock parks the Virgin in the gravel trap. Perhaps this is why they don't run in the wet? Seriously, those guys look like the unluckiest team.

Autosport are saying he didn't hit anything, so presumably they'll be ready to run pretty quick.

There also used to be an attrition rate of over 50% , ie more than half the cars didn't make it to then finish.

11:50 Kovalainen has caused the third red flag of the day after going off at Turn 3

Things seem to go from bad to worse for the Lotus team today... :| :?

Looks like theres no damage to the car though...

Oh dear, looks like Lotus' good karma has run out. I hope we see them on the track again today.

Nope, no more for Lotus today:

thats why you sign experienced drivers .... they admit to making mistakes...
they sure could do without a driver throwing all hopes into the gravel at those times....Kova has definitely not earned his money today.

If you got only a single front nosecone in Jerez you should stay in the pits waiting for better weather or tell the driver : if you loose it you walk home...

Why not have generic wings for the times when you can´t accumulate useful performance data anyways? To get mileage under your belt you could as well use some
old /outdated stuff.
didn´t they want to put on new developments anyways?

I think it has something to do with the unexperianced driver, but am not shore.
