Has FIA hired a monkey to gather weather information in order to decide where the winter tests where going to be or Spain has given bernie and todt a big bag of money or even worse God likes nascar more!?
:o

Well anyway Brazil is drowning on rain water and as I looked the USA is under a ton of snow, Spain is just like Brazil but Bahrain is sunny for the whole week (even though they have sandstorms it has to be considered a replacement for Spain).

Test at Sebring, that'll magnify any mechanical shortcomings from any of their cars. Every km there is like 20km anywhere else.

The rain in Spain falls mainly...when you step off the plane.

Perhaps they can test in Dakar. I propose a race for all cars to get there.

You confuse me. Is that the Dakar in Africa, or the one in South America? :)

Looking at this thread today , anyone would think that all testing had been called off.

Instead we have the drama of a Virgin car completing 72 laps, faster than a McLaren as well! :o  :? =D>

4 Massa Ferrari 1m28.879s +1.302 - 83 lpas
5 Rosberg Mercedes 1m28.964s +1.387 - 63 laps
6 De la Rosa Sauber 1m29.691s +2.114 - 8 laps
7 Di Resta Force India 1m30.344s +2.767 - 33 Laps

And on this bombshell, it has been rumored that the 4 dat test in Barcelona next week, when the wether currently looks to be more favrouable, the test could be increased to 5 days. However, for this to come into effect, 2 things need to happen; 1.) all 13 teams including USF1 and Campos need to aggree and countersign a document of understanding, 2) The only day that can be realeased for logistical reasons is the day before the official first day, however, this day has been booked by Red Bull as their official "young driver day" of the season or a private test or something like that, so the teams would have to allow Red Bull to have another test day elsewhere, or what i think could be the thing that makes it for Red Bull, make it a day where test drivers and young drivers only test.

I dont look into times till race 1 or 2, i am looking at distance covered and relyability rates of the cars. So far on average, there is a stoppage every 98.7 laps or so. 23 Red Flags and 6590 laps completed over all tests, creating a total distance of 28,356.939 kilometers.

Early days and all that but one thing we have seen is the Merc is constantly mid pack.

I hope they are sandbagging or they will end up 4/5th in the WCC at this rate.

Yes some people read a lot into very opaque test data.

However, that Virgin got so many laps under their belt is good news. =D>

That they managed to post a reasonable time is also good news, even if they were on fumes and the others on full tanks. =D>

Nearly honours even in the Lotus v Virgin face off?

This is how they finished.
Circuit status: Air temperature: 14 ° C
Track temperature: 16 ° C
Test times Updated: 17:04
driver team Drive time difference #
1. R. Barrichello Williams FW32 1:27.145 98 pit
2. V. Petrov Renault R30 1:27.828 +0,683 56 pit
3. S. Vettel Red Bull Racing RB6 1:28.162 +1,017 70 pit
4. N. Rosberg Mercedes GP W01 1:28.515 +1,370 71 pit
5. F. Bulk Ferrari F10 1:28.879 +1,734 92 pit
6. P. de la Rosa Sauber C29 1:29.691 +2,546 8 pit
7. P. di Resta Force India VJM-03 1:30.344 +3,199 33 pit
8. T. Glock Virgin Racing VR-01 1:30.476 +3,331 72 pit
9. V. Liuzzi Force India VJM-03 1:30.666 +3,521 24 pit
10. L. Hamilton McLaren MP4-25 1:30.979 +3,834 57 pit
11. S. Buemi Toro Rosso STR5 1:32.678 +5,533 57 pit
12. H. Kovalainen Lotus F1 T127 1:33.554 +6,409 30 pit
I do not expect Williams and Renault to be on top of the time sheets when Bahrain comes along. Vettel and Rosberg belong in the expected top group. I don't see the Merc being off the pace at the moment. They clearly have a less final aero iteration compared to McLaren. So we can still hope that they will be competitive from the start.

The thing to worry is Lotus's lack of spares. Not having a spare front wing is very revealing. I hope they can do better for the races.
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best .............................. organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)

in case nobody has noticed , jerez is pretty close to the atlantic ocean , so it cannot be a great surprise to have poor weather before march rolls around

on the mediterranean valencia had undiluted sunshine last week , albeit cold overnight
just had a quick glance at france's approved med. test circuit , belongs to a guy called eccles or something ; the weather isn't fantastic but it sure is better than jerez , and logistically would fit in with valencia / barcelona
