Hi All,

I too saw the wierd layout of the timing screen all through the weekend. Like others have said on here, the data was there, but in a really annoying format!

In the end, I had one Laptop running the timing screen and another running the McLaren feed which was pretty cool (although I question the accuracy of some of the data they showed!).

The BBC feed was delayed by at least 5 seconds, as both the F1 Timing screen and the McLaren feed were in sync with one another, but the GPS data showed Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button crossing the line before they'd even rounded the final corner on the TV!

I tried downloading the "App" (pretty sure it's actually a Java Applet) for Windows Mobile, but that wouldn't work, so in the end I used the "App" designed to run on symbian phones on my spare phone and that worked pretty well.

I for one would LOVE it if F1.com (or someone else) offered a service allowing you to show live timing and/or a map of the circuit with realtime GPS data showing the location of a selection of drivers... and the selection must be MY selection rather than someone else's choice. For example, If I wanted to follow all of the new teams, I would like to be able to do that.

With the wealth of data now available to the commercial rights holder, the only thing stopping them doing this is their will. It's a gift for sponsors too, it would be SO easy to include a banner for advertising, and us avid racing fans would be subtly persuaded to buy X product!

Bring on Melbourne!

OK, I think the Live Timing on the official f1 site doesn't work for some (like it didn't for me last weekend) because they want all their users to sign up again at the site. I suppose they cleared out their DB and sent everyone before hand an e-mail asking them to re-sign up

the only problem I had with that was that they wanted my phone number to sent sms's even though it was an optional field. being an optional field one would think you can leave it blank. Well, they required to fill "all" fields before submitting the re-registration form. so I just put 1-555-555-5555. I don't want Bernie to have my cell number. Who is he, my grandpa? prick!

Anyway, just put something like that on the site and you should start enjoying live timing again on race weekends. hope it helps.

I left it blank when registering- no problem.

Although my problem was I realised that I need to re-register when the qualifying already started- and they didn't confirm my e-mail until much later. So I was stuck with on-screen graphics, or rather a lack of those.

The downloadable version for Nokia worked very well, although it doesn't give sector times (only yellow/green/purple indicators)
