Exactly as I called it.
Vettel is the wonderkind and Webber is seen as the jobber.
Webber and Adrian should find a team with proper 'British' values.

I'd luv to see Adrian and Mark back at Williams together along with Renault engines, especially now as both their Talents are fully recognised by Frank and Pat. [-o<

That Saward article is a good summary. Interesting that his view is that Vettel couldn't have held the move into the corner.

Well there we have todays PR piece: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/84102

Despite there being two more years to run, they want to extend Vettel's contract to 2015. And they have chosen now to announce it. At a time when it's known that Webber is facing on going negotiations over his own contract for next year.

Seriously Webber mate, get out of there!

A winning team as has been proven over and over again throughout F1 history.
Thats all.

I'd be calling Flav and telling him to get me a drive at Ferrari, Mercedes or even Renault!

err... that'll be Ferrari ;)

Not sure why you bring nationalism back into the forum again.

Ferrari yes but not with the present team.

This whole thread is about nationalism.

They seem to be more concerned about tying Sebastian Vettel down now until 2015. He'd be crazy to accept that because it does nothing for him. He's there until 2012 anyway. The saga of Mark Webber's single year contracts goes on.

That would be Lotus - although you can argue how British they are. I've been impressed with how they've set themselves up and they haven't got this brand crossover thing that Red Bull has and Mercedes will get themselves into exactly the same pickle over German drivers if they were to start winning. British teams have historically been extremely agnostic about drivers of different nationalities. Winning is most important. Lotus would also be free of the politics that Newey has tried to get away from in the past.

The thread is about favouritism of a driver who has been nurtured by his manager, who is friends with the team owner. Yes, I'm sure it helps that all three are from the same part of the world and share a common language.

I see it as a battle of favouritism and patronage, not pure nationality. We'd be seeing the same scenario no matter what Vettel's nationality might be.

It certainly seems that Webber is no more than a place holder until they find someone else, with Vettel being core to all their future plans. There is no chance of equality for Mark in that team, so he's either going to have to accept being the number 2 driver (unlikely) or he's going to have to defy the team from time to time and suffer the consequences. I really hope that he does the latter even though it'll probably cost the team valuable points at times and will almost certainly cost Webber his job.

Webbers cred has improved by miles after this silly incident.
Red Bull can do what they like now, all Marc has to do is continue in the gentlemanly manner he always does.
Up until a couple of races ago, I (and i believe many others) thought of Webber as a good but not great driver.
He has proven me wrong, he is one of the best on the grid IMO.
Vettel has yet to develop a proper character and ditch his prima donna attitude.
Such a mistake can only be overcome with the blinding skill of someone like Schumaker. Vettel is hardly that at the moment.
