McLaren Team Principal Ron Dennis believes it will be difficult to reach concrete decisions about technical rule changes for 2004 when F1’s Technical Working Group meets in early December.
Some of the technical suggestions that will be discussed in December are for car electronics to be governed by standardised black box control software in a bid to give lesser teams the opportunity to benefit from the same programming code as the leading squads, and the re-introduction of slick tyres and reduction in wing size to return mechanical grip to the cars.
But Dennis is concerned the proposals will be “opinion-splitters”.
More changes for 2003 are out the question, as teams are preparing machenery and equipment.
