I thought Alonso did shoot above his weight in Canada. He made all the right tyre decisions, kept his cool in duels and did not damage his car in off track trips. Compare that with Schumacher who was once up to P3 in the race and you look at a pretty mature drive. The McLarens are simply out of reach for Alonso atm. I enjoy Alonso's mistakes but this time I could not fault him for anything.internetf1fan wrote:More mistakes from Alonso. Didn't know how to manage traffic. It's a vital part of what makes a driver complete. Hamilton and Button didn't seem to have the same problem.

He could definitely have played the Buemi move a lot smarter, getting sucked onto the outside and getting hung out there, when he knew Hamilton was right behind him, duly leaving a huge inside gap, probably wasn't the best way to play that corner.Tomba wrote:... I looked at the youtube video again, and it was quite clear when LH overtook Alonso it was all down to the superior straight-line speed of the McLaren. Nothing more. About Button, it was not Alonso's fault that Chandrok did not move aside. At first it looked like he was making a way, but then suddenly moved in front of Alonso. What could have he done?WhiteBlue wrote:The McLarens are simply out of reach for Alonso atm. I enjoy Alonso's mistakes but this time I could not fault him for anything.
Nice to have most people share my opinion for a change.vall wrote:I looked at the youtube video again, and it was quite clear when LH overtook Alonso it was all down to the superior straight-line speed of the McLaren. Anyway, it is not good that the outcome of the race is decided by cars that are lapped 4-5 times, no? It may happen in narrow tracks as Monaco, but it should not happen on other tracks.
The Mp425 was massively superior to the Ferrari. It was a superhuman effort to keep them back the time he did and then stayed somewhat in touch with much faster cars. Your bias is over the top and rather tiresome. The top three all drove great races ,but the Mclarens should win while FA drove the Ferrari harder and faster than the F10 had any dreams of going.ISLAMATRON wrote:I will disagree... LH was following Alonso for some laps but it was not until Alonso stuck his nose behind Beumi in a poorly concieved and executed passing attempt that allowed Hamilton to set him up and knock him down.
Ferrari's pit stop got Alonso the lead and his poor decision lost it.
Hamilton's passing in Canada was masterful whether it was for the lead vs webbo or 'lonso or against the backmarkers.
Fred's passing of lapped traffic was piss poor and cost him at least 1 position.
Otherwise a good race by Alonso and his crew... those cheaters!
