Simple. Ron Dennis was protecting his investment and making sure he ahad an easy ride of a rookie. The situation caused too much in-fighting in the team which was pretty obvious to all but the most blinkered. I'm not an Alonso fan, I think the guy is a prat (much like Hamilton is also a prat) but he did get a rough deal.vall wrote:but how could you explain that Alonsowas clearly unhappy already from the first race? By the second he had to talk to Ron. Things are clearly more complex that what you say. Also, why he signed a contract to share him setup with the teammate? Also, MrE once says that before judging the situation, we should consider that we do not know what was in his contract? Perhaps the old man know a thing or two...
No contradiction at all. The car was the best out there and Alonso could have easily have won if the team wasn't focused on a rookie. I don't see how the team protected Alonso at all, they properly hung him out to dry. Alonso is a complete unethical prat but he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to walk away from something.myurr wrote:Errr surely a contradiction? Ron Dennis only ever tried to provide them both with an equal platform, which was always the right policy. Hamilton was leading the championship, and by some margin heading into the last few races.andrew wrote:If it wasn't for Ron Dennis protecting his teams investment, McLaren would have got both titles in 2007.
You could also say that if the team hadn't protected Alonso and hampered Hamilton's strategy in Monaco then Lewis would have been champion.
correct. At the end they paid the price.....andrew wrote:No contradiction at all. The car was the best out there and Alonso could have easily have won if the team wasn't focused on a rookie.
why would you say this?andrew wrote: Alonso is a complete unethical prat but he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to walk away from something.
You really have to ask? Couple examples for you, shoved Massa out the way in the pitlane entrance and gave Massa a puncture at Silverstone in an avoidable accident.vall wrote:why would you say this?andrew wrote: Alonso is a complete unethical prat but he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to walk away from something.
would it better to get stuck again behind mych slower Massa? I donlt think so [-X After all if anyone at Ferrari has a chance for WDC it is Alonso.andrew wrote:You really have to ask? So supply me with sites that you you trust - hell you brought it up making unsubstantiated claims about Alonso being unhappy from the first race, prove it to me. That his family went to another garage at the first race could mean he was already unhappy (rightly, wrongly, no idea without a reason!) or it could mean that they weren't making any effort to fit in with the new team.vall wrote:look at the web sites where those stories come from:

anyway, at the first race FA's family went to Renault garage and at the second it became clear Alosno was not happy. It seems he had a serious chat with Ron.
I totally argee but there are border lines by this I'm am referring to incident when weaved to Vitaly Petrov getting past, but other than that I argee.Jersey Tom wrote:I don't particularly care for Hamilton either way, though he is talented.
He wants to get every scrap of time he can.. be it entering pit lane.. exiting.. or on track. Particularly noticeable with how much he abuses the tires.
If it works.. it works.
