Also, why he signed a contract to share him setup with the teammate? Also, MrE once says that before judging the situation, we should consider that we do not know what was in his contract? Perhaps the old man know a thing or two...
Simple. Ron Dennis was protecting his investment and making sure he ahad an easy ride of a rookie. The situation caused too much in-fighting in the team which was pretty obvious to all but the most blinkered. I'm not an Alonso fan, I think the guy is a prat (much like Hamilton is also a prat) but he did get a rough deal.

Errr surely a contradiction? Ron Dennis only ever tried to provide them both with an equal platform, which was always the right policy. Hamilton was leading the championship, and by some margin heading into the last few races.

You could also say that if the team hadn't protected Alonso and hampered Hamilton's strategy in Monaco then Lewis would have been champion.
No contradiction at all. The car was the best out there and Alonso could have easily have won if the team wasn't focused on a rookie. I don't see how the team protected Alonso at all, they properly hung him out to dry. Alonso is a complete unethical prat but he doesn't strike me as the sort of guy to walk away from something.

You really have to ask? Couple examples for you, shoved Massa out the way in the pitlane entrance and gave Massa a puncture at Silverstone in an avoidable accident.

would it better to get stuck again behind mych slower Massa? I donlt think so [-X After all if anyone at Ferrari has a chance for WDC it is Alonso.

1. The pit lane move was ballsy but entirely fair imo.

2. Silverstone incident was Massas fault, not Alonsos. He should have known better than to stick hois nose in that gap which was always going to disappear.

anyway, at the first race FA's family went to Renault garage and at the second it became clear Alosno was not happy. It seems he had a serious chat with Ron.
So supply me with sites that you you trust - hell you brought it up making unsubstantiated claims about Alonso being unhappy from the first race, prove it to me. That his family went to another garage at the first race could mean he was already unhappy (rightly, wrongly, no idea without a reason!) or it could mean that they weren't making any effort to fit in with the new team.

What had McLaren done pre-season to annoy the oh so reasonable Fernando Alonso?

Fernando's being unhappy just shows his mental weakness IMO. Weak excuses.

He wants to get every scrap of time he can.. be it entering pit lane.. exiting.. or on track. Particularly noticeable with how much he abuses the tires.

If it works.. it works.
I totally argee but there are border lines by this I'm am referring to incident when weaved to Vitaly Petrov getting past, but other than that I argee.

Re: Is Hamilton desperate or what?

I receive a reported post in this garbage thread every day (or so it seems). I come here to read and... holy toads and snakes, TomBa-tman! The mediocrity!

Is it me or could it be you?

Please, guys this is F1Technical, not F1ByzantineDiscussionsAboutWhoIsTheDriverWithTheLongestD*ck

Frankly, I don't care if you love Takuma Sato or hate Andrea Dallara. Love or hate them in silence, will ya?

This site demands that kind of cool, detached, "engineerish" way: a good engineer can put even Button in the WDC, ;) isn't that already clear to all of you? I'm sure the guy in charge of the car doesn't care if Jenson is angry, old, if he farts or spits. The driver is just another part of your equations, so to speak.

Napoleon didn't take baths and he conquered France, for the love of Pete. Socrates was gay and people don't care about that when they study what he wrote.

So, to be clear: Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Alonso are both WDC. They deserve the respect as drivers that small fact implies.

We do not want to know if they are crazy or short, if they use beard, have girlfriends, boyfriends, lay down with a mule or they are desperate! We... do... not... care.

We want to know how they drive, but with numbers behind the opinion, if you're so kind: simply to repeat that Hamilton (or Sato) brakes very well doesn't give you a clue about what's he doing.

We also do not have a forum devoted to "driver psychological analysis" nor a forum named "driver intentions exposed", the place where I think most of the posts in this thread belong.

Could some member provide a technical angle to this thread? Let's give you a week, ok? (and that's too long, if you ask me, but in doubt...).

See you next Friday, sharpen your pencils, I beg you.

Well, certainly, Ciro - you only have to ask.

By my calculations, only 5.027% of F1technical.net membership believe that Lewis Hamilton is, in fact, "desperate". 13.712% believe that he is not, leaving 81.261% either undecided or reluctant to share his or her opinion.

Now, if we break down the 5.027% "desperate" figure, we get the following:

2.088% believe that Hamilton desperately needs to beat his teammate.
1.921% believe that Hamilton desperately needs to beat Fernando Alonso.
0.498% believe that Hamilton was the subject of the song "Desperado" by the Eagles.
0.311% believe in Santa Claus.
0.208% believe that Hamilton played opposite Salma Hayek in the movie "Desperado".
0.001%, surprisingly enough, believe that Hamilton desperately wants Ciro to be his fan.

There may be some rounding error in there somewhere. Regardless, I think the numbers provide a good indication that at least 18.739% of F1technical.net members are, in fact, not gainfully employed.

Well 55 pages, and 12 points separate the 2 teammates.
Hamilton feels the gap should be greater, because he has been driving very well in the last 2 races.
He has recovered 33 points since monaco, which should truly be 33 plus 20 points.

He is a clear 2.5 to 4 tenths faster in qualifying and up to a second a lap faster in race pace for an average of 10 best laps (i'll have to check that out).
Race pace gap is always bigger than qualifying when dealing with hamilton. The new regulations means the approach to the race is different and this is hidden if we look at total average time. But if we take a big sample of best laps we see the true gap, as if both were pushing.

He may be a little worried about the small points gap he has now, because anything can happen, and when it does, Button is always on the luckier side of things.

The good thing is that Hamilton is now confident he has Button covered, in qualifying, race pace, and tyre treatment. Button is looking slower than Heiki now, just with more consistency, less risky, and more crafty.

The exhaust blown diffuser will also make the gap in pace seem even bigger.
It increases rear down-force which may initially seem to be of help to button; getting a more planted rear. This helps him in high speed turns.
However under braking this stability disappears, balance suddenly shifts to the front and there in lies the problem for Mr. Button.
I don't know what effect it will have on Hamilton's style, but his approach to entering the turn in a straight line, versus Buttons arcs, is less prone to upsetting the car.

Both drivers are strong at Hockenheim, but we will see how the upgrades work for both drivers and see if one is suffering will Whitmarsh take the upgrades away from both in the name of equality.

I think Button is the strongest driver mentally, and simply wont make mistakes on track. He drives within his limits and thinks out every move; which may be the reason for his relatively slow pace.
Hamilton has to be just as clean while trying to balance that with his speed.
For Sure!!
