Indeed so. That was just about the only chance Hamilton had of passing Webber on that track. He saw an opportunity and went for it. That's what racing drivers are supposed to do. Webber's job was to defend which he did. I think both could have given the other a touch more room but then I'm sat on a comfy sofa not in a racing beast under lights suffering from the heat and humidity.lebesset wrote:no way is anyone going to win the drivers championship in the mcLaren by being cautious

It sounds sort of like he's given up. But it could also mean he'd be going to Suzuka with less pressure on himself than usual, with a competitive car. I think he can win at Suzuka."I'm not going to think specifically about the world championship right now, I'm just going to try to enjoy the rest of the season - and whatever happens happens. But I'll keep fighting to the end, because it's the only way I know."
You can't be serious.Dragonfly wrote:In view of the final outcome it's more Lewis's fault, I mean he should be more careful at this stage of the season. There were many laps to the end yet.
I support Hamilton on this. If you wonder where he'd been with careful driving, look at Massa tonight. Hulkenberg did so many mistakes but Massa never came close to overtake him. He was just cruising around.ringo wrote:Dragonfly wrote:In view of the final outcome it's more Lewis's fault, I mean he should be more careful at this stage of the season. Yes, you should look at Kubica overtaking maneuver at the same place - while on the outside, he left room for the other guy, rather than cutting into him like Hamilton did! Hamilton was half a car length ahead abut Weber had the inside and it's preposterous to assume that he'll yield in that situation. A clear mistake by an arrogant, immature driver who expects everyone to get out of his way.ringo wrote:You can't be serious.Dragonfly wrote:In view of the final outcome it's more Lewis's fault, I mean he should be more careful at this stage of the season. Being more careful is even worse, almost like sitting down watching someone else walk away with the championship.
If he sat down behind webber today, then sat down behind him in suzuka, and the rest, he simply has no chance of winning.
Going for the pass was the best option and it worked. It was way after the pass, that Webber rammed him.
Webber was probably still flustered after being overtaken, desperate to hold position then braked too late.
Sutil and Kubica overtake is the best example of how a situation like that should go down. Hamilton was not wrong, just unlucky.
Exactly right - "Kubica would have crashed into sutil and spin" which is what Hamilton has actually done!ringo wrote:You must be seeing what you want to see, Kubica would have crashed into sutil and spin.
Watch the video again, if sutil drove like Webber Kubica's race would have ended.
Sutil's front wing was literally a cm from being entangled in Kubica's rear wheel.
What you also seem to be forgetting is the cars involved.
Renault on fresh tyres vs Force india on old tyres. Faster car vs slower car on slower tyres.
Then you have in Lewis' case Slower car hard cooled tyres vs half a second a lap faster RedBull on the same tyres. No comparison
Kubica is no example, his passes were pretty easy, the other drivers weren't interested in fighting him and it's the same reason Sutil yielded.
Someone put up a video or gif.
