Could the be upgraded to the new spec, for reliability reasons, and still be used in the races?
Or have they been used up in FP1/2 during the season allready?
If these engines are still in the pool, and upgraded to current spec, Ferrari may does not look too bad after all.
Those engines were seemingly cleaned totally inside and used as the Friday engines at all the European based races. They havnt been upgraded as that would render them a new block as per the rules. From Engine 4 in their cycle, was when they introduced their new upgraded blocks.
If they used the #1 block on Friday running, it would already be arround 1500KM in Friday running alone, and would be arround 1650km in total, and that would suggest to me that engine would be gone if you take 2000km as the roof for engine milage.
With those figures, it would make it that #1 has been used on Fridays, and with #3 being blown, and #2 being used at BAH (race) AUS, MAL FP & CHI would mean that block was used, and with #4 being used at ESP, MON & TUR would mean that #5 would be the only one with some milage in it. BUT... #4 and #5 have been used in FP at a couple races as well, means they could have maxed out their milage, if they have been used from SIN and onwards.
Alonso is thin on milage, its do-able, looking at Vettel, Webber and Kubica last year, but it is one of those things for Alonso; if one engine decides to blow, or even cough, its curtains.
