Vettel had to work his way through the field in some cases this year and he either faded (Canada, China) or ending making contact with someone whilst trying to pass them (Britain, Turkey, Belgium). He had the chances to show his racecraft and overtaking abilties, and i wasn't impressed.
Ney, it's better to stick the car on pole as many times as you can and win from there. At this level, it's 90% about the cars. I think sometimes they should scrap the driver's championship altogether. It would certainly solve some problems like the need for team orders and that kind of crap.
I think F1 would lose alot of interest from the fans if there was no WDC.

Can not resist - it must be the same person
Regarding Vettel: it will be even more difficult to be excited about WDC won, when he will learn everything, not learned so far

So the fellow inhabitant of the White Blue Country has returned. After Vettels win, judging by the absense of WB, jumping over the moon takes significantly longer than the cow would have us believe.

@ Giblet

I think some people are not excited with Vettel's win because a lot of people didn't want him to win. They preferred Hamilton, Alonso or Webber to win so they feel deflated now.

Vettel won without making arrogant soundbites unlike Webber and Alonso. There is more to be discussed about the ones that lost than the guy who won.

I'd say trying to put the blame on Webber for the Turkey accident was pretty arrogant.

I would call it honest, not arrogant.

This has been gone over so hard in the Turkey thread. Both drivers were at fault to some degree, how much is a matter of personal views. Saying one or the other was entirely at fault is ridiculous at best. It took to tango.

One could have left more room, the other ran into the car that left no room.

Two race cars are side by side very closely on piece of road. The responsibility of the one on the left is not to turn right and the one on the right is to not turn left. Furthermore, the one on the left is free to use whatever of the road is on his left and the one on the right is free to use whatever of the road is on his right, but have no obligation to do so.

Webber gave enough tarmac on his left for Vettel's car to be there but he had no obligation to give any more than that. Vettel had the choice of running straight into the run off area if thinks he can't make the corner from his shallow angle or back off and go wide once he is behind Webber or get properly ahead and then get a wider line.

Spot on, and this is why Webber was not at fault.

Does anyone else think Vettel's "lack of overtaking ability" may be partly down to the car? Webber hasn't done much better than him in traffic, has he? And the RB6 can't be a great car to use in traffic if its front wing is flexing from side to side when close to another car, like in the moments before Vettel crashed into Button.

Webber did some very good overtaking manoevres in Monza and Singapore.

I don't think it was the car that decided to turn right into Webber at Turkey.

.....

are we going to restart this Turkey discussion again? Personally, I can't wait to see him get another WDC. Usually, the first WDC is somewhat clumsy. Is like Schumacher, his 1994 WDC was a close fight and he had many bad decisions like getting a black flag and disqualification. He was definitely fast but "clumsy". Then comes 1995, he demonstrated that he is the maestro that we all know all too well.

I know there will be strong contenders next year just like this year so I am not expecting Vettel to dominate under such environment. But I believe he won't be as "clumsy". Lets see what happens... Can't wait though.
