It was legal because they passed the crash tests with it but i don´t know if they banned it later. Can´t remember they using it after that GP either.

Banned. Reason, the fact it is costly as Ferarri were rumored to have spent $15m on it and seemingly smashed 2 complete tubs up before it was passed in the crash test lab. It was banned on cost grounds, but also on the fact it was creating more downforce as it was giving the low pressure node a route to escape and thus making the front end more driveable. In 2008 the Ferarri was more aggressive on the front Bridgestones than the McLaren, but then the F2008 and MP4/23 had current roles reversed, the McLaren was the shorter and the Ferarri was the longer.
EDIT: Just checked my records, the 265 and 266 chassis numbers dont have a Chassis name next to them, thus meaning that the F2008 could plauseaubly have had 2 tubs smashed up before the slotted nose box was passed.
