None taken.

The car threads are for development of the car. Car, parts of car, finding new developments. Ideally, it would be mostly pictures, and discussion of the actual car as an object.

The drivers objective descriptions of the performance of the car is actually a prime example of what is not supposed to be in the car threads. New wing? New sidepod? Sure. Why Ross Brawn thinks they will get 1 second out of the new upgrades? That is not something that will stand the test of time when I want to look back and see what wing MGP ran on their car in the 2011 test.

That's the line that some are failing to see.

Would I be right in thinking that Lewis did no running today with the "boil on the nose" instrumentation which Jenson was using yesterday?

I haven't been able to find any pics of it if he did.

Also, any exhaust layout pictures from today at all?

Were they using the more conventional layout, or something sneaky?

Best pic i could find and it looks like conventional exhaust layout:

I am thinking though...I read people say that they had exhaust issues today.Since button had the same layout yesterday and no issues occured then this makes me think that at some point during the day they switched layouts.

if they're trying radically different approaches to their exhausts, which it seems to me they have, doesn't that just show that they lack confidence in their initial design?

Which one? The floor behind the sidepod termination?

Could the sidepod winglets be helping to deal with the nose cone vortices that have been discussed previously?

Things is though, won't they be making there own vortices, which will further deteriorate the quality of the flow to the beam wing?

Well, I haven't seen too many pictures of their exhaust configurations so far in this test but if they haven't picked one by now......... Either the one that they are hoping will work actually will work, otherwise they're just wasting track time right now and doing nothing but dealing with reliability problems. Red Bull and Renault had the right idea last season. Put it on the car, spend a little time and if it really isn't something that's working then take it off and go away and think about it some more while you still get your car out on track.

It's crunch time in this test. Every second counts.

Seeing the rectangular patch just in front of the rear wheel, it really looks like this floor was a 'slit exhaust' floor that has been patched up and reverted to standard.
They might well have given up on this 'slit exhaust' for good...

Or, they're working toward getting a baseline from a conventional exhaust in order to correlate and double check their CFD predictions?

Or you're right and the data they were seeing was off the map and they have abandoned the idea for now.

I think at least one other poster pointed out a link between this:

And this:

But it's good to see the McLaren boys joining in with stuff like this.

Does anyone know who is scheduled to run in the MP4-26 tomorrow?
