I'm guessing this is not what Chapman fought for. Anyone have a better explaination for me? Thanks

There is video of it and it doesn't sound very, well, F1. An example of where road car relevance would be detrimental to the "theatre" of F1.Shrieker wrote:wiley wrote: CVT transmission (Not normally considered with other active technologies, but Williams tested it!)
This was mentioned in an article I translated into Turkish a couple years back. Coulthard tested it in a Williams in 1993, the rumoured time gain per lap was a whopping 3 seconds. Everything else on the car was the same, so the time gain was coming only from the CVT. Too bad it was banned. I think it's one of those things directly related to road-going cars and F1 was (still is) the perfect place to hone it.

If you're referring to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3UpBKXMRto, well... no wonder it does not sound as expected, damp conditions + he is just trundling around. Or maybe there are other vids of FW15 with the CV15 ?Just_a_fan wrote: There is video of it and it doesn't sound very, well, F1. Mclaren shot themselves in the foot with the bad introduction of electronic aid in 2001, Michelin in 2002 and a skiny car in 2004, Mika and Beryllium would not have sorted out these issues.chepoi wrote:my favourite is Beryllium engine by McLaren-Mercedes. This is my favourite banned so called technology where Ferrari is very very very and very frighten of it. If this beryllium engine not banned... i don't think that Schumi will be 7 times champion.. it might be Mika Hakkinen 9 time champions! 9 times chanpions? Schumi fans might laugh at me later on....... ***LOL!!!***
