LOL, I don't hate Ferrari. But I can live a life without Ferrari. Neither their current cars nor their participation in F1 are important for me. I admire other automotive manufacturers and F1 teams similarly or more.
What is wrong with that? Ferrari in 2011 are the archetypical "Fat Cats". They have neither been innovative nor inspirational for a long time. The last Ferrari I have admired was the Ferrari Dino.
But the same goes for the Jaguar E-type
or the NSU Ro 80
which was a design icon 15 years ahead of it's time. Should I admire Jaguar today just because they did something great fifty years ago? Nobody loves Mercedes just because they did the gull wing in the fifties.
or Renault just for offering the Renault Alpine A110
So, please explain to me why every F1 fan has to pay special reverence to Ferrari. They are just a team as any other with a particularly ruthless president who used to play the game harder and more successfully than other great brands. Unfortunately today he is focussed on his little universe in Maranello and Italy. He has lost touch with the rest of the world and F1 if you ask me.
Looking at the poll and the answers here we should probably wait a few months before we want to post more on the issue. By the time we come to Silverstone the proposal will either look very silly or perhaps prophetical.
