Yeah, maybe. Some cars (I mean, some manufacturers) can push ahead under different conditions, but the drivers... have been they erased as factors? Not completely, I know, but they seem underwhelmed, if you get my drift. Take Alonso for example. He has embarked in a 5 years contract with a manufacturer that right now has no chance of moving over 5th or so (well, maybe if they race on the Moon or something, I concede) apparently embarking on another "Schumacher". By this, I mean, embarking on a multi year development program. It's almost as if the difference in money invetsted in the different brands and the amount of concentration of talent this provokes, has obliterated personalities and nowadays drivers only form part of the steamrolling machine that the manufacturer brands are.
Am I exaggerating a bit? Nah, I don't think so. I haven't done it for hundreds and hundreds of years...
