Is this allowed (only) maybe in qualifying?
The FIA will lay down a ban on DRS between two points on the Monaco circuit - distance markers 1350m and 2020m - which is the area around the tunnel.

Schumacher has just stacked it into the first corner...handfuls of oversteer, then bailed out but too late and into the barrier.

Mercedes looks sorted in Nico's hands but not Schumi's.
More could have been done.

Schumacher hits the armco and smashes the car.

Brilliant quote from Button on his radio:
What's the big red light in the middle of the steering wheel?

You call that smashing a car? I seriously doubt it even got damaged at all, maybe a suspension arm or so.

Apparently he damaged the barrier(source), so I guess the car is damaged as well... The right front wheel did look a bit out of place in the onboard shots, and the right rear side got hit as well.

Liuzzi and Khartikeyan in the 107% danger zone....and Renault not really the force we expected them to be yet..

Go to the BBC website and read the comments on the "as it happened" section.
BBC F1 commentator Martin Brundle on Twitter: "Vettel fastest in first practice. Alonso second and awesome for Ferrari. Schumacher P10 but ended in St Devote wall, not too much damage."
Hardly sounds smashed does it?

I'd be surprised if Schumacher is last to come a cropper at St Devote. New tarmac could be awkward for braking with oils coming to the surface.

R31 is not as good in slow corners as R30 was.
