There is no backing out? Wrong. Seen plenty of drivers give up on a move and try again later. No matter how you dress it up, it boils down to the same thing. Hamilton screwed up.
He could have cut the corner as this would have been infinitely more sensible but there is no point looking at ifs buts or what could have been.
And this view is clearly reinforced by the video showing Hamilton *trying* to back out – he's hard on the brakes, going slower than Mandy, and he's turning to cut the corner. The Schumacher/Hamilton move which was identical to the Maldonado incident. The difference is that Schumacher chose to stay in the race, Maldonado chose to crash out.
Same again for Hamilton and Schumacher's moves at the hairpin, nearly identical, except Rosberg chose to stay in the race, Massa chose to crash out.
