to the optimist a glass is half full ; to the pessimist a glass is half empty ; to the F1 engineer the glass is twice as big as it needs to be

That one is easy to answer - he wouldn't pay the salaries that world champions ask for. There's no secret there - he's been up front about it for years.

Sorry to post here but my thread got closed and ive been told to post it here:
Having just seen this great analysis of the Hamilton/ Schumi pass and Lewis/Maldanado crash it is clear to see that it is not Lewis causing an avoidable accident with his overtake but Maldanado turning in trying in vain to defend.

The difference between the great overtake on Schumi and the crash was not Lewis action at all but that of the driver in front who lost his team valuable points when he should have done a schumi and conceded position rather than crash or Lewis on the first lap when Schiumi stuck one up the inside at lowes, ie gave him room and carried on his race. As apposed to Massa who shut the door too late and then crashed into Webbers car and then into the tunnel barriers.
No damage to Massas wing was caused by Hamilton as he was against the side pod.
Also why was Di Rista punished, Alguersuari not punished for smashing Lewis wing off.
It should all be seen as racing incidents as it was in Singapore last year when Webber lunged into side of Hamilton with the former going onto to finish and Lewis ending in the barriers.
