The "Asymmetrical" thread

There are so many postulations of asymmetrical f1car body parts floating around the forum these days; even the slightest distortions in reflections in the paint are mistakenly as deliberate asymmetrical design! Even a bump in a weave of carbon fibre, or a scratch on an endplate cannot escape the eagle eyes of F1technical members....



Put anything asymmetric or what you think is asymmetric here!

I will begin with this image from Bar555's Mp4-24 thread; I think this is what sparked the asymmetrical craze so here goes:

Can't remember which races specifically, but I definitely remember that solution being raced, I also remember something similar on the -25 (pre EBD)

This has been posted so many times... sorry. It's not even a Formula Car but an Indy car where asymmetry is an advantage, so I'm cheating. Anyway, I'd say everything (except the fenders ) is asymmetric.

Ferrari ran a asymmetrical rear wing at Monza in either 2007 and/or 2008. Since the course has more high speed right turns, the wing was bias to work better in yaw conditions.

As you can see Renault have previously used Asymmetrical rear suspension. Look how much of the right rear wheel you can see compared to the left. Clearly asymmetrical.

How was that even legal. Also, Alonso only has only one hand in that photo, was the other removed to lower CoG?

Surely its free ballast and should help given their low vertical placement (except on cold race days) and actually goes far in explaining the lack of castrados in the history F1. Unless you count Massa post Alonso, & Rubens post Schumacher. The teams clipped their wings, as it were. Must be an Italian thing.
