Ferrari write off the season

Post

I wonder how long it will take Ferrari to write off Domenicali or better Montezemolo. The fish stinks from the head.

I was thinking the same thing. A more reputable source (Autosport.com) has quoted Domenicali as saying that from Silverstone there may be a "2nd Championship" due to the banning of off throttle engine mappings. It is believed that Redbull's qualifying advantage is strictly due to their engine mapping. To further add fuel to that fire, Newey is asking for more information (again Autosport.com) on what is going to be banned at Silverstone.

So no, i dont think they are writing off anything yet because there is a distinct possibility that Redbull could fall down the pecking order further than everyone else. If their advantage is lost this would blow the entire championship wide open....specifically for Alonso and Hamilton.

I don´t understand the wrong in doing it. The car was way to conservative and it´s apparent that the Red Bull is too dominant.
Better to start fresh, go balls to the walls with the new one in terms of design and hope that the windtunnel now gives correct numbers.

(assuming RBR will still be dominant at Silverstone and forward)
The truth will come out...

If after Silverstone, Redbull are still beatign everyone by .5 sec in qualifying, then yes, all hands on deck for 2012.

Crash.net as a source? Oh dear, that's worse than Pitpass. This has been rumbling along for a while now but Ferrari are waiting until Silverstone (according to more reputable sources).

I wouldn't write off Ferrari, McLaren or even Mercedes just yet. The altering of the EDB rules could royally screw Red Bull.

Two Red Bull cars haven't crashed together yet this season. There are still a lot of points up for grabs ;)

Thank you, WB, for this excellent example of trolling:

1) start with a controversial subject line, sure to arouse emotions: "Ferrari write off the season"

2) use as "support" an article whose OPENING SENTENCE refutes your own subject line: "Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has hinted that Ferrari will soon be faced with a decision as to whether it turns its focus to the 2012 F1 season and writes off the 2011 campaign."

Not enough? Here's another quote from your "source":
"However, despite losing further ground in the title race in Canada . . . Domenicali said Ferrari wouldn't give up hope."

Well, it will rile up a few people. If that was the post's goal, then the post succeeded. Sad.

Incidently Merc are thinking about switching their focus to the W03. The Merc fish smells even worse due to the longer development period of the W02.

When Ferrari unveiled their 2011 car I was surprised for the car had a really conservative design. I think their conservative approach towards designing F150 is what has hurt their car's pace.

As donskar stated perfectly, Ferrari isn't giving up on 2011 just yet, so no further point in discussing this I would say.

Thanks
