sure that is true if you do too much of such things it is very stressful and not helping either, but having such commitment for one time does not relief suddenly relief all stress and is barely the cause for the performance. Believe me, I know enough of such human psychology, and one break after 3 years of such commitments doesnt relieve all stress suddenly. sure it helped a bit, but to say he won due to this is just bs.

This is the time for MW to make a decision on which driver to support. If there is any chance of winning the WDC, MW has to make sure one of the drivers gets the maximum possible points and not let the other driver steal points away. In this track Hamilton has shown to be faster than Button throughout the weekend so far, but since Button is on a clean side of the grid, it's highly likely he's going to be P2 at turn 1. Will MW really allow the slower Button to hold up Hamilton and let the chance of a win slip away? Ron would have no trouble making the tough decision. MW on the other hand is too soft.

No Withmarsh is reasonable, Button has the same chance of winning the Championship as Hamilton has. And to add to it, P2, where Hamilton starts, is on the left side of the grid, the clean side of the track.

Button has not signed for a contract to be the second driver, and he wil not drive for that. If Button is 1 and Hamilton is 2 they are allowed to race for the first place, like it should.

They wont need any orders...I believe Hamilton gonna start OK maybe sticks his nose to Vettel as well but if Button is ahead of him orders wont be needed he will attack him.

If anything Button and Hamilton will not fight each other letting Vettel disappear into the distance .

Button doesn't have the same chance. Opportunity is different from chance.
He has about the same opportunity has Lewis, but he can't make as much use of it.

I'd support Hamilton from now on. When the car is fitted with on the edge parts it seems to be much quicker. I think before Germany they were going with Button's advice on which parts upset balance and so on. Now they seem to give Lewis what he wants, and if button can't drive it, then too bad.
For Sure!!

Look at how close Alonso got to winning the WDC last year. All due to the fact that Ferrari put everything behind him, even though Massa wasn't far away in points when the decision was made.

Look at 2008 when Ron backed Hamilton. He returned the favour with McLaren's first championship in years. What will happen in the race tmr if Vettel is leading, Button can't keep up and is holding Hamilton up. Will MW really be stupid enough to let Button race Hamilton, risking a contact/letting Vettel romp away in the distance? Will he be silly enough to waste a chance of a win?

Are you even serious?
1. It is Ferrari, these guys are known of not treating their drivers evenly.
2. Massa was way slower than Alonso and also way further behind.

Dennis didnt back anyone, Heikki never really got close to Hamiltons pace so he was never a threat.

I think you can answer the question yourself, he had let the 2 race each other in China this year, Canada this year, and Turkey last year. If you want to win the title, just do it fair or just dont do it at all.

There is nothing wrong with team orders. I doubt Kimi fans care about team orders which won him the championship. It's a team sport after all.

Out of the three examples you gave above, two of them ended in contact with Hamilton DNF in one occasion and the both being lucky in the other.

Let's look at all championships won in the last decade. They were pretty much a result of a team focusin on one driver. The MS era, Renault era, Kimi in 07, Hamilton in 08. You don't let team mates race each other unless you have a dominant car, and even then RBR nearly lost their championship last year by having the teammates race each other.

McLaren doesn't have a dominant car. There is no home of a WCC, and they are ruining their only chance of a WDC by not focusing on a single driver.

And not, Massa was quite close in points to Alonso when they had the team orders, closer than Button is to Hamilton at the moment.

I don't believe it would make sense to only support Hamilton at this stage. They're just 1 race win away from each other in points with half of a season still to go. I think if McLaren is to have any chance of winning either of the championships they need to get both their drivers ahead of the Red Bulls, getting Vettel to finish 3rd or worse for the remaining races. Of course it would help if they could have some Ferraris between them too.
There's no need to annoy a good driver like Button with team orders at this point, if Hamilton is the only one of them within striking distance of Vettel towards the end of the season (or vice versa), then sure bring on the team orders. I'm sure at that stage either driver will understand and support this.
I think Whitmarsh is doing a great job - there's a wonderful harmony in the team, updates are coming along nicely and they've really caught up to Red Bull and look set to challenge for the 2nd half of the season. What more could you ask for?
You can't win all of the time and there's no point in calling for Whitmarsh's head when the team seems really healthy at the moment. If the team was stagnating sure but McLaren really looks like a team with purpose. We'll see in the race tomorrow exactly how much of RBR's advantage they've managed to erode.

This horse has been so severely beaten, we understand your opinion on backing one driver internetf1fan.

Mclaren let their drivers race. Some opinions say otherwise, but as a team it is their decision and they feel being fair and letting their drivers race each other is worth more than a WDC, and I tend to agree.

Well done MW. What were they thinking putting Hamilton onto SS when everyone was going the other way. Everything else that followed was a direct consequence of it. i.e. having to push extra hard, trying to do qualifying lap, lap after lap to get a the 19 second gap for the extra pit stop, which resulted in the spin. Then having to gamble with the intermediate (cos hamilton knew his race was already ruined and that was the only chance he had)

Well done MW. Now Vettel has extended his lead again. Do you really want to win the championship?

Button has just confirmed that it was the team that put him on the prime tires. Why was Hamilton put on the SS? Absolutely ridiculous.

And apparently the order to come in from inters came in from the team as well! There was no need to split strategies today. They were leading 1 and 2. They could have put both drivers on the same strategy. Button just confirmed that it was the team and not him who made the decision to go with primes, while Hamilton was put the options. MW has to go!
