Maybe a pull rod for the Ferrari rear.raymondu999 wrote:The biggest thing with the McLaren in 2012, I think, will be the periscope exhausts.
I should reiterate I don't think that Ferrari and Red Bull will be complete redraws. They will develop on their existing concepts, but some of their developments will have to take a few strides of creativity
I didn't say RBR will be at a disadvantage. I only said I belive Newey needs something new because Ferrari and Mclaren have finally chased it down. I didn't say scrap the whole concept or anything like that but it's a proven fact Newey is at his best with fairly new rules. So, in summary, no RBR disadvantage, just no RBR advantage either. I think next year will start fairly even like the last few races have beendonskar wrote:If I read the previous several posts correctly, it seems some of you think that RBR will be at a disadvantage because Newey will have to design a "new" car (based on the assumption that the current car has reached its peak). It also appears Ferrari will have a "new" car. I have no idea where McLaren is in the development life cycle, but I have no doubt that Newey can design a new car from a clean sheet of paper with the best of them. I trust Newey has developed new ideas as he has developed his current car and that those ideas will lead to an excellent new design. Ferrari has its work cut out for it.
I believe that RBR will still have an advantage. Regarding Ferrari and Mclaren eating into their advantage, the same could be said about last year yet RBR is on top this year. We all believed that after the slow start Ferrari made last season, they would start on an equal footing this year. Plus with the fixed weight distribution no longer mandated, there will be even more variables for Ferrari to take into account to build an RBR beater.Pierce89 wrote:I didn't say RBR will be at a disadvantage. Now, to get on topic, I think Ferrari will have the most elaborate Monza kit, but I hope they're fast corner strength of late will help in Spa also
ALL cars will have periscope exhausts next year, exiting at the same point. It's in the rules.raymondu999 wrote:The biggest thing with the McLaren in 2012, I think, will be the periscope exhausts.

Rumor has it that F150 Italia will have some sort of flexi wing at Spa.
@f1enignma: "A new flexi wing story regarding Ferrari is or will come out soon. Hungary and Spa are the places that those stories come to live "
Sorry, I meant because the McLaren had the U-sidepodsgilgen wrote:ALL cars will have periscope exhausts next year, exiting at the same point. It's in the rules.raymondu999 wrote:The biggest thing with the McLaren in 2012, I think, will be the periscope exhausts.

I'm not convinced that they'll struggle at all – in fact, they may get some advantage in using the exhaust flows as curtains to keep air in the channels beyond the end of the physical U-pods.raymondu999 wrote:Sorry, I meant because the McLaren had the U-sidepodsgilgen wrote:ALL cars will have periscope exhausts next year, exiting at the same point.
